The One Show fans fume for hosts to 'talk to' Rowan Atkinson as interview turns awkward

The One Show fans were less than impressed with the hosting from Jermaine Jenas and current stand-in presenter Angela Scanlon.

Viewers were fuming that the brilliant Rowan Atkinson, 67, had been invited on the show and wasn’t given much airtime or a fair opportunity to even speak.

Online users blames the hosts for constantly talking over him when he was given an opportunity and for filling up the programme with so much other stuff that his slot just didn’t feel long enough.

On Twitter, annoyed fans all seemed to say the same thing as they moaned: “You have Rowan Atkinson. TALK TO HIM!! #theoneshow.”

Another echoed: “#TheOneShow pointless getting Rowan Atkinson if you ask him a question then keep butting in to try and shut him up!”

Fans fumed Rowan didn’t get enough airtime

While others were more wound up at the hosting, adding: “#TheOneShow these two haven’t got the personality or skill to manage the guests conversation and it’s awks when they are desperate to wind it up or move on – Rabbits in headlights,” and “#TheOneShow desperately needs better presenters…”

Meanwhile, Irish host Angela, 38, has stepped in for usual presenter Alex Jones – who has been absent this week.

On Monday’s episode, it was evident that Alex was missing from her usual perch on the green sofa.

However, no explanation was given by her co-star football pundit Jermaine as to why the Welsh star had not been present.

Instead the former Tottenham Hotspurs star was joined by Gabby Logan to head up the show.

It would seem fans have certainly missed Alex this week but the TV star has been very much in demand with other priorities.

Although the mum-of-three had been missing from Monday’s show, she still featured on a video tape during the episode.

The presenter formed part of the judging panel who were responsible for deciding who would win this years BBC’s Young Reporter award.

On the deciding panel was BBC Breakfast star Naga Munchetty, Newsbeat’s Roisin Hasting and Nikki Fox from The One Show.

Lauren from Newcastle was the first lucky applicant to be announced as a winner and Alex was on-hand to deliver the special news.
