The One Show's Jermaine Jenas reveals 'biggest fear' for his kids in honest chat

Jermaine Jenas has opened up to co-star Alex Jones about his “biggest fear” for his four children.

The One Show fans had previously been shown a short video which highlighted many of the online dangers kids and teens could be exposed to when using the internet for gaming.

As the harrowing VT came to a close, it proved to be hard hitting news for many parents who allowed their offspring to access the digital world to play games.

Coming back to the studio, Jermaine looked shellshocked as he told co-host Alex: “You know what, that kind of stuff terrifies me.”

The football pundit added: “You’ve got kids, I’ve got four kids and three of them, they are doing a lot of gaming and they’re online.”

He went on to explain: “As a parent it’s a bit scary how to stop and how to control it because they’ve had similar experiences where you just don’t know what to do half of the time.”

Alex who recently returned from maternity leave was also in agreement, she responded: “Ours aren’t there yet, they’re not of that age but it terrifies me.”

The mum-of-three had other ideas to stop her children Teddy, aged four, Kit aged two, and her new bundle of joy Annie, from accessing online platforms when the time arose.

She joked: “I think I’m just going to throw the router in the bin. No internet.”

Jermaine laughed before adding: “That’s a good plan. I mean how to tackle it, is difficult isn’t it?”

The former footballer became a dad for the fourth time last year, welcoming son Jacob in October with his wife Ellie.

He is already a proud father to two girls – Geneva, eight, and Olivia, four. He also has a 14-year-old daughter, Sancha, from a previous relationship.

Earlier this year, Alex made her official comeback to BBC screens after she’d welcomed her first baby daughter in August 2021.

On her debut show – January 4 – The Welsh TV star outlined that she’d already suffered with anxiety when it came to her brood while chatting about New Years resolutions.

“Mine, Jermaine, is to be a little bit more relaxed, so today [is my] first official day back from maternity.

“My husband Charlie [is] on paternity and I need to learn to let go a bit of things at home. Let him do it his way. [It’s] tricky,” she explained.

“You don’t seem too happy with Charlie…” quipped her partner on the green sofa, as she swiftly insisted: “No, no, no, it’s all good. A little bit anxious, but yeah it’s fine.”

The One Show airs weekdays at 7pm on BBC One.
