Tom Parker had been upbeat during his cancer treatment since his diagnosis in October 2020 and wanted fans to have a positive outlook on life.
The singer who was famed for being one-fifth of boyband The Wanted died on Wednesday (March 30), aged just 33, surrounded by his wife Kelsey and their two children.
Despite the brutal toll his brain cancer took on him, Tom ploughed through and even appeared on stage with his bandmates at their recent reunion tour.
The singer last appeared in public on March 17 at the closing show of their tour with tom appearing on stage for the final two songs, Gold Forever and Glad You Came.
In one of his last interviews, the singer explained that people should “live their life”.
Speaking on Capital FM Breakfast with Roman Kemp, he said: “You just have to live your life, I think we’re all guilty of it.
“Cancer diagnosis or not, we all get taken away with every day, we don’t really have a moment to just sit there and appreciate what we’ve got.”
He went on to add: “I think that’s the one thing I’ve actually learnt from this journey, is to appreciate every day that you get given.”
“None of us are guaranteed tomorrow,” he shared.
Tom’s death came less than two weeks after his bandmate Max George shared a health update on Tom, a source told us: “Max told fans that this wouldn’t be the last we would see of The Wanted, the group were really positive about their future and seemed optimistic about it.
“Despite his condition, Tom was in such high spirits and seemed overjoyed to be on stage but became rather emotional which is totally understandable.
“When Max was telling fans this isn’t the last, Siva piped up adding that the heart vacancy girls might be the last of the tour but there’ll be many more to come.”
Tom’s widow, Kelsey shared the heartbreaking news that he had passed away with an emotional statement reading: “It is with the heaviest of hearts that we confirm Tom passed away peacefully earlier today with all of his family by his side.
“Our hearts are broken, Tom was the centre of our world and we can’t imagine life without his infectious smile and energetic presence of him.
“We are truly thankful for the outpouring of love and support and ask that we all unite to ensure Tom’s light continues to shine for his beautiful children. Thank you to everyone who has supported him in his care throughout, he fought until the very end. I’m forever proud of you.”
