Tipping Point's Ben Shephard takes swipe at Boris Johnson as he slams politicians

Tipping Point: Lucky Stars host Ben Shephard made a joke about the coin pusher machine and Robert Peston poked fun at prime minister Boris Johnson.

On the star studded lineup, which featured Loose Women’s Judi Love, The Only Way Is Essex’s Pete Wicks and journalist Robert Peston, the celebs tried their hand at winning a cash prize for their chosen charities.

Ben welcomed the famous faces on to the show and after their introductions, he got straight on with the general knowledge questions.

Robert answered correctly when asked a question about ABBA, which meant he could release a coin into the machine.

Ben joked about his coin release technique and urged him to focus on his timing.

Peston let one of his counters drop into drop zone 4, all the guests gasped at his misfortune and Judi questioned ‘really?’ when his turn was complete.

Ben then said: “It’s like when you’re interviewing a politician and they just won’t give you an answer: ‘Really? Really?'”

Robert laughed and added: “Yeah, that’s the Boris Johnson of machines,” which left his co-stars in tears of laughter.

Ben joined in the joke and said: “Sitting on the edge. They’re going to sit on the edge and tease us sadly, nothing drops from the machine.”

Peston also made a comment of his own

The unfortunate manoeuvre meant that the “scores stayed as they were,” which meant that Pete was in the lead with £1,600, Robert was £800 up and Judi was in last place with £400.

Earlier in the show, some fans noted Ben’s comedic language as he addressed the guests.

As Robert tried to take down some counters that Judi had managed to push closer to the edge, Ben said that he was “after Judi’s danglers,” which left viewers laughing over the double entendre.

One of Ben’s questions was about someone who was called “Lady Garden,” and fans couldn’t help themselves at his humorous comment.

A viewer laughed at the quip and said that Ben was “on top form tonight”.

The show has recently faced complaints that the machine is rigged, which were quickly put to bed by host Ben.

In an interview, Ben assured the doubtful viewers that the mechanism is a “complicated system” that is “run by the gallery”.

He also said that due to the complicated nature of the show, they “cannot take it on the road”.
