Here are the best of the UK’s festivals that music fans will not want to miss…

After a long slog of a year, Brits from all over the UK are more than ready for a summer full of good vibes and good music.

And haven’t we got some good news for all you music fans out there… There are plenty to choose from!

From some of the big players such as Glastonbury and Wireless to more alternative gigs such as Sound City and The Great Escape.

We’ve got the lowdown on all of them, so let’s take a look at what’s coming up…

Sound City

Sound City is a festival that celebrates emerging artists

The festival will return to venues across Liverpool between April 30 and May 1 2022, and is described as “the home of new music discovery”.

Its lineup includes the likes of The Lathums, Self Esteem and Yard Act.

Music fans can discover some of the biggest upcoming artists, as well as watch headline acts from artists including Alfie Templeman and The Reytons.

They will be joined by a whole host of newly announced acts across the weekend, as the festival prepares to celebrate its 15th anniversary.

The Great Escape

The Great Escape is a festival celebrating new music and will be playing host to more than 450 up-and-coming artists.

It’s the first place to discover your new favourite artist and see them in an intimate setting before they go on to headline major festival stages.

It will take place in Brighton from May 11-14, 2022 and the lineup so far includes Yard Act, Rebecca Black, The Amazons, Baby Queen, Lola Young and many more.

Biffy Clyro will be heading up the rock festival

Download Festival will return to the spiritual home of rock in Donington Park, Leicestershire, for three days on June 10-12, 2022.

It will be headlined by rock stalwarts KISS, Iron Maiden and Biffy Clyro.

There are more than 100 acts confirmed to play the festival already, including Skindred, Bimini, YONAKA, Kid Brunswick, A Day To Remember, Deftones, KORN, Lacuna Coil, The Distillers, Steel Panther, The Darkness, The Pretty Reckless, Funeral For A Friend, Wargasm.

Hampton Court Palace Festival

Hampton Court Palace Festival is a series of unique open-air concerts where artists will perform in an intimate 3,000-seat auditorium.

The shows will be set against the backdrop of Henry VIII’s magnificent Tudor Palace in Richmond from the June 10-25.

Elbow, McFly, Kacey Musgraves, Jack Savoretti, Michael Ball & Alfie Boe, George Benson and Crowded House are already confirmed for 2022 with even more acts to follow.

Park Life

Lewis Capaldi, 50 Cent and Megan Thee Stallion are among the confirmed headliners for this year’s Park Life.

The return of Manchester’s annual celebration has been confirmed and will take place from June 11-12 at Heaton Park.

The weekender also includes a long list of DJs including DJ EZ, Sub Focus, Annie Mac and Eric Prydz, Andy C, Jayda G, Four Tet and Carl Cox.

The festival has also announced new stage partnerships with the likes of Defected, underground giants Fuse, XXL, Eat Your Own Ears and Repercussion.

Glastonbury

Arguably the most legendary festival in the UK was cancelled in both 2020 and 2021, but it is set to return this summer.

Currently, Billie Eilish has been confirmed to perform, making her the youngest solo headliner in Glastonbury history when she takes to the Pyramid Stage on Friday, June 24, in Somerset.

So far, the only other two artists confirmed are Brit Award-winning artist Little Simz and Diana Ross, with Diana set to perform in the iconic Legends slot.

Community Festival

London’s Community Festival is set to return this summer – and its blockbuster line-up will include the likes of Two Door Cinema Club, Pale Waves and The Wombats.

The indie festival is back in action after a two-year break due to Covid, but it’s set to return with a bang at London’s Finsbury Park on Saturday, July 16.

Headliners Two Door Cinema Club will join other huge indie acts including The Wombats, Pale Waves, Nothing But Thieves, Alfie Templeman and Circa Waves.

The action-packed rock festival will take place across two stages, and if that wasn’t already enough, more acts are yet to be announced for the capital city’s iconic outdoor venue.

Truck Festival

Truck Festival 2022 has released its latest line-up – joining the likes of BRIT Awards 2022 nominee Sam Fender, The Kooks and Kasabian.

The star-studded festival will kick off on Hill Farm in Oxfordshire between July 22 and 24.

The huge acts already announced for the weekend include Sam Fender, Kasabian, Blossoms, and Capital’s Jingle Bell Ball star Sigrid.

Plus, other stars on the lineup also include Sea Girls, The Murder Capital and Cassia.

Kendal Calling

Stereophonics will be starring at the Lake District festival

Kendal Calling has now announced its full list of headline acts with Bastille adding to the ranks, joining the likes of Stereophonics and Supergrass.

The Lake District festival will take place at the end of July kicking on on 28 and finishing on 31, for a full weekend of musical fun.

The weekender will see party starters such as Craig David Presents TS5, Joel Corry, Sophie Ellis Bextor and Faithless.

There are also indie acts including The Wombats, The Kooks, Amy MacDonald, Pale Waves, Tom Grennan, The Vaccines and many more among them.

Wireless

It will be Cardi B’s only UK festival performance this year

Europe’s biggest celebration of contemporary black music is taking place at three sites over two weekends.

The nine days of music is on between July 1 and 3 at London Crystal Palace Park, then continues the following weekend with simultaneous three-day events on July 8-11 at London’s Finsbury Park and Outdoor at the Birmingham NEC.

Massive headliners include A$AP Rocky, J. Cole, Tyler, The Creator, Cardi B, Nicki Minaj, Dave and SZA.

Y Not Festival

Manic Street Preachers will be playing at Y Not Festival

The North’s essential music festival returns to the Peak District after two years away on Friday July 29 to Sunday, July 31.

The headliners for Y Not’s fifteenth edition are Stereophonics, Courteeners and Blossoms.

The supporting line-up also includes Manic Street Preachers, The Vaccines, special guests The Levellers, Easy Life, Sea Girls, Dinosaur Pile Up, The Big Moon, Black Honey, Orla Gartland, The Reytons, The Futureheads, late-night DJs Sigala and Nathan Dawe, plus loads more.

Reading and Leeds Festival

Reading and Leeds are the UK’s biggest and simultaneous festivals and will be taking place over the August bank holiday weekend (August 26-28).

Headliners are Arctic Monkeys, Dave, Rage Against The Machine, Halsey, Megan Thee Stallion and Bring Me The Horizon.

And they will be joined by exciting rock, indie, alternative, hip-hop and dance talent including Wolf Alice, Glass Animals, Enter Shikari, Joy Crookes, Little Simz, Run The Jewels, Fever 333 and Pale Waves.

All Points East

Gorillaz will feature at the London festival

All Points East is set to return for two weekends in Victoria Park from August 19-28, 2022.

Headliners include Gorillaz, Tame Impala, The National, Disclosure, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, with APE Presents Field Day headliners The Chemical Brothers and Kraftwerk.

Also on the lineup this year are IDLES, FKJ, Fleet Foxes, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard and Michael Kiwanuka.

Big Feastival

Big Feastival 2022 is back with a bang and has announced some big names including Anne-Marie, Sugababes and Stereophonics.

Other acts who will be performing at the show also include The Human League, Jake Bugg, Gabrielle, Basement Jaxx, among many more.

The Cotswold festival will be going large this summer at the end of August for a two-day special starting on August 26 until 28.

The festival is presented by M&S Food and returns for its eleventh year on the bank holiday weekend.

The show will be hosted at Alex James’ Farm, which is renowned for delivering incredible live music, critically acclaimed chefs, award-winning street food.

Sundown

AJ Tracey will thrill fans in Norfolk

The festival is celebrating its tenth year and will be taking place at the Norfolk Showground, Norwich, this September (2-4).

AJ Tracey and Sean Paul will be headlining the main Kiss FM stage and will be joined by Wes Nelson, Digga D and Jonas Blue.

Elsewhere on the lineup are the likes of Bad Boy Chiller Crew, Jax Jones, Andy C, Tom Zanetti and Ms Banks.
