Woman on BBC Breakfast says 'seeing Queen's coffin was better than having kids'

BBC Breakfast fans were left in shock on Monday (September 19) after a woman made a shocking confession on air.

A member of the public, named Sarah, appeared on BBC this morning and spoke to presenter Sophie Raworth.

Sarah had joined the queue of mourners late on Sunday night (18 September) and said that seeing the Queen’s coffin was “better than having kids”.

The mum of two had queued up with her partner Mark and said: “Amazing, I think it’s the best thing I’ve ever done in my life.

“Even having my children, Lily and Luca, I think this tops that. It was just amazing.

“I’m so pleased we did it.”

Fans found the confession hilarious and took to Twitter to share their amusement.

One said: @A woman on @BBCBreakfast just said seeing the Queens coffin was the best day of her life. ‘I’ve had two children and it even topped that’ Nuts.”

Another wrote: “Did that lady just say seeing the Queen’s coffin was better than the birth of her kids? Christ!”

While a third penned: “Woman says, “seeing the queen’s coffin was a better experience than having her own children”…#hysteria”

Sarah explained to the BBC that heading down to Westminster was a last-minute decision.

She said: “I couldn’t find anyone to look after my own children, so I asked my mum.

“It just came over us and we said we’ve got to go.”

Mark explained that the experience was “surreal” and you could have heard a “pin drop”.

The Queen is to be reunited with her beloved husband The Duke of Edinburgh as she will be buried today.

The funeral is set to take place at 11 am and will air on both BBC and ITV.

The funeral will see the gathering of over 100 kings, queens and heads of state today (Monday, September 19).

The service will be the biggest collection of foreign dignitaries on British soil since Winston Churchill’s funeral in 1965.

Speaking about the scale of the operation, Professor Anthony Glees told the Daily Star: “These 10 days will be the biggest ever policing and security operation the UK has ever had to manage.

“We know from the House of Commons Library that 2002 Queen Mother’s funeral cost £5.4m in arrangements & £4.3m in policing of which 50% was an additional cost.

“Today I’m sure the cost of everything will be at least £100m with perhaps 50% so £50m being funding additional to existing salary costs.”
