X Factor star Sam Callahan has revealed why Gary Barlow still has him blocked on Twitter.
The singer, 28, starred on the ITV show in 2013 and clashed with the Take That star on the programme.
In an exclusive Daily Star Facebook Live tell-all with showbiz reporter Carly Hacon, the singer revealed why he and Gary no longer communicate.
In 2017, on Gary’s birthday, Sam poked fun at the former X Factor mentor by sharing a like-for-like snap of them both stripped off for past photoshoots.
Gary could be seen posing in his Take That heyday with nothing but some tight pants on – like Gary, Sam has also posed starkers for a Gay Times shoot a few years before.
Sam had captioned the tweet: “Wowie @garybarlow, nearly half a century! Happy Birthday old boy!”
However, Sam claimed Gary didn’t find it funny and allegedly blocked Sam on Twitter.
During the chat, host Carly asked Sam: “You did clash with Gary a lot, but I did find it absolutely hilarious that you got blocked on Twitter by him. Are you still blocked?”
Sam replied: “I blocked him back, so I don’t know, but I think I was just like ‘screw you’.
“I thought it was funny, that was a great tweet.”
Carly then added: “I don’t know why he took it so seriously… Why do you think he was so mean? Simon wasn’t there for your series, who was at the time TV’s Mr Nasty, do you think he was trying to play his role and step into his shoes, maybe?”
To which Sam explained: “I think so, the way I see it shows like X Factor has to be a pantomime and each judge has to be a character, we didn’t have Simon so Gary was given that role of being Simon.
“I think he was asked to say certain things for different contestants. I don’t know how much say he has in what he says.
“But I know there was one week where he couldn’t really fault what I’d done and he had a sheet and then looked at it and then turned it over and said ‘look like you had fun up there’.
“It was really strange, the rest of the time he was pretty brutal to me when he was on the panel but what was interesting to me was backstage, we had fun and had a bit of a jam on the guitar.”
He added: “Sharon was my favourite on there, she used to call me a little s***, and I loved that and it was funny Sharon Osborne was calling me that. But you don’t have as much to do with the judges as people perceive.”
Daily Star has contacted Gary’s spokesman for comment.
