Alison Hammond reveals family member is in hospital as she updates This Morning fans

Alison Hammond has revealed that her niece Jasmine is in hospital being looked after by NHS staff – so she’s been “back and fourth” to visit her.

This Morning host Alison shared the health update on Friday’s (March 10) edition of ITV’s This Morning alongside co-host Dermot O’Leary, TV star Carol Vorderman and LBC broadcaster Nick Ferrari.

They were discussing a lack of trust in the NHS by one in three members of staff when Alison halted the show to say said she’d “back and fourth” to the hospital to see her niece.

But she quickly reassured fans that Jasmine was doing “really well” and couldn’t thank NHS staff enough for their support.

Alison said: “I have to say, I have to caveat this, my little niece is in hospital at the moment.

“She is doing really well, by the way. I have been going back and forward. I definitely need to say that the NHS staff…. they have been absolutely amazing.”

Dermot replied: “Extraordinary aren’t they?” before Alison said: “She has been treated absolutely amazingly.”

She then decided to surprise Jasmine with a shout-out on the telly when she turned to the screen and said: “Hi Jasmine.”

It was previously reported how niece Jasmine underwent heart surgery after being diagnosed with Kawasaki disease at the young age of three.

Alison told The Mirror in 2012 that she rushed to the hospital when her niece, the daughter of Alison’s sister Saundra, was left fighting for her life after collapsing at school.

She said: “Saundra told me Jasmine needed to hear my voice so I just dropped everything and rushed straight to the hospital.”

Alison added: “We are a very close family. I love Jasmine so much, and to see her get sick like that was a horrible shock.”

She was placed on life support after having a heart attack, with Alison saying: “She was the sickest girl in the UK at that point, so she went straight to the top of the list to get a new heart.”

Luckily, Jasmine got the heart she desperately needed and got remarkably better.

Alison said at the time: “She’s so much better now, it’s like a miracle.”
