Amanda Holden appears to take veiled swipe at Phillip Schofield as he quits This Morning

Amanda Holden appeared to have taken a veiled swipe at Phillip Schofield after he announced he was leaving ITV’s This Morning.

The Britain’s Got Talent judge, 52, seems to have reignited her infamous feud with the famous ITV broadcaster, 61, after their clash.

It comes after Phillip announced on Saturday (May 20) that he was leaving This Morning with “immediate effect” after 21 years on the sofa.

It comes following mounting reports of a rift between him and his co-star Holly Willoughby, with rumours suggesting their friendship had ‘cooled’ and that they weren’t speaking much.

Shortly after the announcement, Amanda took to Instagram to share a cryptic post which simply contained a bicep-curl emoji, often used as a sign of celebration or to show support to someone.

It suggested she was rather happy that Phil was walking away from the show after hosting it for 21 years.

Fans in the comments were convinced they knew who she was taking about as one wrote: “I know what that’s for.”

Another said: “No Holden back for sure, YES AMANDA!”

In his statement, Phil confirmed that he has agreed to step down from This Morning immediately and that ITV had decided the current situation “can’t go on”.

He also insisted that he has always done his best to be “honourable and kind”.

Amanda and Phil’s alleged feud stemmed from 2019, when she alleged she had lost out on the chance to host This Morning because of Phillip – with the gig going to Rochelle Hulmes instead.

A source told The Sun: “told The Sun: “Phillip actively campaigned for Rochelle Humes to get the job despite Amanda being more experienced — and having been told privately she’d got the gig.”

But an ITV spokesperson insisted the decision is made by the producers of a programme and not the presenters.

The apparent feud was brought back into the limelight in the same year, when Amanda mentioned the TV presenter in a quick-fire radio quiz.

When asked which three things she would not want to find in her house, she replied: “Spiders, flies and Phillip Schofield.”
