Saturday Night Takeaway was thrown into chaos tonight (March 18), when Hollywood actress Toni Collette swore live on ITV1 – forcing Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly to issue an apology.
The Muriel’s Wedding star, 50, appeared on the Saturday night programme as the famous guest announcer, with her accidentally dropping the S-bomb live on national television.
Fans were quick to spot that Australian actress Toni had sworn during the Saturday Night At The Movies segment, when she said “oh sh*t”, with many flocking to Twitter to note the pre-watershed blunder.

“Did Toni Collette just swear lol?” asked one fan as it happened.
With another penning: “Very much enjoyed the pre-watershed ‘oh sh*t’ from Toni Colette on Saturday Night Takeaway.”
“Obsessed with Toni Collette swearing on Saturday Night Takeaway,” added a third, with a fourth writing: “Toni Collette panicking and saying sh*t has made my life.”
A fifth went on to tweet: “Toni Collette just said sh*t on live TV. Love it.”
While a sixth said: “Toni Collette swearing on Saturday Night Takeaway is everything.”
And a seventh penned: “Toni saying ‘sh*t’ on live tv, honestly don’t blame her everyone needs to have a little fun sometimes lol.”
After the break, the two Geordie hosts appeared backstage when they swiftly issued a heartfelt apology to viewers at home.
Walking around behind-the-scenes, Ant apologised when he looked into the camera lens and said: “Sorry if you heard some bad language,” with him adding that he hoped it didn’t “spoil it” for anybody.
But some fans didn’t think that the apology was needed, with many complaining that the duo apologised for the slight slip up.
Responding to Ant’s apology, one fan penned: “Ant, if anything, Toni Collette swearing pre watershed made my entire night. Hilarious.”
With another echoing: “Don’t apologise. Toni Collette wanted to win holidays. She’s brilliant.”
Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway airs every Saturday night from 7pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
