BBC Breakfast turns tense as Nina Warhurst admits she's 'never been angrier' with hubby

BBC Breakfast star Nina Warhurst brought some of her home life into the Salford-based studio this week, confessing she’s “never been angrier” at her husband.

Business correspondent Nina was chatting to hosts Sally Nugent and Jon Kay about pasties on Wednesday (January 11) after visiting a bakers the day before.

Jon joked she might cause a “civil war” with some of her more outspoken opinions on the matter, which was when Nina dropped a huge bombshell.

It all began when Jon and Sally recounted the story of a Cornish pasty being sent into space via helium balloon, with Nina confessing: “Do you know what? I can take or leave a Cornish pasty. I know that’ll be controversial.

Nina Warhurst was left fuming at her husband over a pasty row

“The ratio of filling to pastry is not for me,” she explained. “There’s too much pastry round the edge.”

She then confessed to Sally: “Can I tell you what happened yesterday? I took a steak slice home, really looking forward to it for my lunch.

“Came downstairs and my husband said, ‘Delicious steak slice, that’.”

Sally quipped: “Oh? Is he still alive?”

Nina then forged ahead: “Barely. I don’t think I’ve ever been angrier with him, or with anyone.”

Jon chipped in: “He’s about to be minced and put in a pasty!”

Nina had been on a visit to a bakery on Tuesday (January 10), expressing her love for a ‘pasty bap’.

Jon quizzed her: “So the pasties you were eating yesterday, they were different from Cornish pasties?”

“They’re sort of rectangular, but the pastry is a lot thinner,” Nina explained. “They don’t have that ridge round the edge.”

She then urged: “Come on, Jon! You’re from the South West!”

The host confessed: “I am from the South West. I think you’re about to start a civil war if you start talking about pasty problems and rival pasties!”

Nina reassured him: “It’s just a matter of taste.”

Jon wasn’t letting it go that easily, as he urged: “You’re prepared to taste more, yes?”, with Nina acquiescing: “I’m prepared to do a taste test if the job requires it.”

Sally then urged viewers to write in if they have a strong opinion on the matter, with Jon quipping: “And you will!”
