BBC Breakfast’s Victoria Valentine pays sweet tribute to “most remarkable soul” in touching Instagram post.
Victoria, 38, who can often be found hosting BBC Breakfast or BBC News, took to the photo-sharing platform over the weekend to share a string of unseen snaps.
Celebrating her “constant companion’s” 13th birthday on Sunday, February 12, Victoria swooned over her “spirited and courageous” pet in a set of snaps posted on her stories and in a grid post dedicated to her pup.

On her Instagram stories she wrote: “Today, a tribute to the most remarkable soul on his birthday,” before sharing some throwback photos.
And alongside a recent snap of her beloved companion posted on her grid, she went on to list a slew of traits that her dog Prospero had, Victoria then added: “The hero, the victim and the villain. Prospero has always lived up to his name.”
Recalling the time she was attacked, Victoria candidly opened up about the ordeal and how she was and is grateful for her dog.
“I think of the time he pulled me out of a frozen lake when we were attacked one February morning in London,” she began.
Adding: “How, another time, he pinned a knife-wielding teenager to the ground to defend my ex-husband.”
Recalling more memories of Prospero, Victoria then concluded: “Happy birthday my old friend. Rest, now.”
“What a lovely old chap,” gushed one fan in the comments section of the charming photo of Prospero which was accompanied by the lengthy caption.
This comes as Victoria – who was known as Victoria Fritz – changed her last name when she split from her partner of more than a decade.
The TV host married Dan Fritz in 2011, with the pair welcoming two children together, but after they split Victoria revealed her married surname “no longer fits”.
Victoria added: “I’ve discovered my name matters. And so I am changing it.”
She decided not to go for her maiden name, but instead her mother’s maiden name of Valentine.
BBC Breakfast airs everyday from 6am on BBC One and BBC iPlayer
