BBC Breakfast’s Naga Munchetty says ‘I’m not going there’ after co-star swipe

BBC Breakfast’s Naga Munchetty was forced to back down during cheeky on-air banter with her co-star after things took a turn for the worse as she fumed: “I’m not going there”.

During Saturday’s (September 2) visit to the BBC studios, the 48-year-old broadcaster woke up the nation alongside her co-host Charlie Stayt for the sixth instalment of the week.

Throughout the show, the presenting duo discussed some of the biggest stories hitting the headlines this morning including the rise in school closures and the concerning rise in botched cosmetic procedures.

But things quickly took a frosty turn when the pair introduced sports presenter Hugh Ferries for the latest development on the football field.

One of the hottest stories in the sporting world this morning was the news that Belgian football team Union Saint-Gilloise will be taking on Liverpool in an upcoming match where brothers Kevin and Alexis Mac Allister with go head-to-head on the pitch.

Hugh explained: “Kevin Mac Allister – who plays for Belgian side – found out his team would be facing Liverpool which is where his brother Alexis plays after signing for them this summer.

The broadcaster reassured fans that he was talking about the footballer Kevin Mac Allister and not the fictional character played by Macaulay Culkin in the infamous 1990s Christmas film Home Alone.

The broadcaster snapped “I’ve done journalism”

He added: “And if you’ve heard Kevin Mac Allister before and you’re wondering where and why – it might not be the Union Saint-Gilloise player, no its Macaulay Culking’s character from Home Alone. They’re two different people, just in case you were wondering.”

It was at this point that Naga cheekily asked: “Are you sure?” to which he countered: “I’m absolutely sure” before she pushed him again, asking: “Really?”

After her consistent questioning, he snapped: “I’ve done journalism, I’ve made sure” as she recoiled in shock at his comment.

As Charlie chuckled beside her, she insisted: “I’m not even going there, I’m not even going there” before she moved on with the programme.

It comes after the raven-haired beauty scolded her co-host Charlie for talking about poo too much on the early morning show on Friday (September 1).

It’s certainly not what most viewers want to think about when tucking into their cereal in the morning, but the broadcaster couldn’t help cracking a rather unpleasant quip about a huge bull who had defecated over the side of a car.
