The One Show viewers were distracted on Monday night (January 9) when host Alex Jones donned an elaborate outfit.
The Welsh sweetheart, 48, looked sensational on the first episode of this weeks slew of The One Show programmes.
Wearing a bright red knit jumper with a huge and very elaborate white frilly collar, viewers at home were quick to compare Alex’s ensemble and look to that of a popular cartoon character.

Taking to Twitter under the show’s hashtag, a cohort of viewers quickly compared Alex’s outfit to something that Olive Oyl from the Popeye cartoon strip.
One person shared a snap of Alex on the green sofa beside two snaps of Olive Oyl, and penned: “Loving the Olive Oyl look that #AlexJones is sporting on tonight’s #TheOneShow on @BBCOne.”
Another viewer simply shared an illustration of the cartoon character and tweeted the show’s hashtag, to which someone replied: “My other half just said the same LOL.”
While a third shared another snap of Olive Oyl, implying that Alex had based her look on the iconic character.
Olive Oyl is a beloved cartoon character created by E. C. Segar, who popped up for the first time in 1919 for a popular comic strip entitled Thimble Theatre.
The strip was later renamed Popeye – after the sailor character who had large muscles.
Although Popeye became the lead role, Olive Oyl was a main character for a decade in the original Thimble Theatre strip before Popeye’s 1929 appearance – making her the longer serving out of the two.
The character of Olive Oyl is often described as “absent-minded, sweet, flirtatious, short-tempered and romantic”.
Known as a damsel-in-distress, the character frequently said “Oh, dear!” in a flirty way when appearing in popular culture.
