Below Deck can launch a deckhand’s career into the stratosphere – or it can collapse it completely.
That’s what happened to Laura Bileskalne and Luke Jones on this week’s episodes of Down Under, after two instances of inappropriate conduct became known to Captain Jason.
They’re not the only ones to have been fired mid-season from the show. All the franchises, including Adventure, Sailing Yacht, and Mediterranean, have all seen their fair share of dramas among the cast.

From bum flashes and kitchen fires to more serious drug offences, Daily Star takes a look at those Below Deck stars who didn’t make it to the end of their season – and why.
Luke Jones
In a shocking incident just a few episodes into season two of Below Deck Down Under, Luke Jones was immediately terminated by Captain Jason after crawling into bed with an unconscious cast member.
Luke got into bed with his co-star Margot Sisson while she was passed out, without her knowledge or consent – forcing the production team to jump in and intervene.
The cast had been drinking together after their chartered guests left, and bosun Luke entered a drunk Margot’s room naked before producers could force him out.
Aesha Scott quickly informed the captain, and Luke was immediately fired, with fans praising the decision on social media.
Laura Bileskalne
In that very same episode, Captain Jason also fired Laura Bileskalne after she acted inappropriately with deckhand Adam Kodra.
Laura continually tried to become intimate with Adam despite him telling her “no” on multiple occasions, and he later told Aesha that he was uncomfortable with how things are going.
A dismissive Laura also claimed Luke was “only joking” when he got into bed with Margot, branding his firing “unfair” – and leading to Captain Jason firing her on the spot.
Hannah Ferrier
Below Deck Mediterranean took a sudden turn in 2020 when everyone’s favourite chief stew Hannah Ferrier was fired.
Captain Sandy was informed in the middle of a charter that Hannah brought drugs, including valium and marijuana, on board after admitting she needed them to cope with mental health issues.
However, cast members on the Bravo reality show aren’t allowed to carry medication without a prescription – and Hannah was fired after four years on the show.
Hannah later explained that the valium was from a prescription, and admitted to bringing CBD along on the boat – but she apparently hadn’t checked them in with the captain.
Kyle Dickard
As though being arrested for storming a football pitch wasn’t bad enough, Kyle Dickard was later fired from Below Deck Adventure due to his conduct.
He ran from the stands at the DRV PNK Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and was quickly apprehended by security – resisting them before being tackled to the ground.
Witnesses claimed Kyle “incited several others to run onto the field” and was handed one charge of disorderly conduct, one charge of resisting an officer without violence and one charge for bribery by a public servant.
Court documents obtained by People magazine claimed he allegedly attempted to bribe officers to let him go for $300.
Kyle later joked about the incident on social media.
Pete Hunziker
Below Deck Med star Pete Hunziker had to be edited out of season five of the show after Bravo cut ties with him after an unearthed racist and sexist social media post came to light.
The star had already been told off by Captain Sandy for making inappropriate comments to bosun Malia White, calling her “sweetie”.
But when an offensive meme came to light, Pete was forced to apologise for his behaviour and was cut from the show.
He said via Instagram: “A little over 3 months ago someone sent me a meme on social media and I thoughtlessly reposted it.
“I now realise how painful the imagery and symbolism is and, upon deeper consideration, I realise that the implicit bias that exists in the brief text written in the meme is offensive.”
He added: “To all those I have hurt and offended please know that I am genuinely sorry. I have always fully supported equal rights and equal opportunities for ALL people.”
Lexi Wilson
Known for her explosive rows with cast-mates during season six, second stew Lexi Wilson finally went too far when she yelled at Mathew Shea that his parents “should have aborted him”.
She also used the R-slur and fumed: “If this wasn’t on camera, I would smack your a**”.
Captain Sandy was forced to step in and fire her on the spot, telling Lexi: “From what I’ve seen, you’re a terrific human being. Threatening people, saying the things that you say.
“Considering how it’s permeated throughout the entire boat and some people just can’t get around it, the many outweigh the one. I have to make a hard decision and it’s not easy for me. I have to let you go.”
Ryan McKeown

Chef Ryan McKeown admitted that he “stopped trying” on Below Deck Down Under – but he came under fire for other reasons from his co-stars.
Aesha told Us Weekly: “If arrogant was, like, personified, it would be Ryan. He’s a very arrogant man. I think that that’s something that everyone — not just as a chef — it’s kind of difficult to be around anyone that’s arrogant.”
But as he was leaving the dock, Ryan didn’t take his firing lightly, and had to flash his bare bum to the cameras and to his former boss Captain Jason.
