Britney Spears’ wild romance with Sam Asghari – first meeting, heartbreak and ‘cheating’

Britney Spears has reportedly split from her husband Sam Asghari after just one year of marriage.

The Toxic hitmaker was previously married to childhood pal Jason Alexander for 55 hours and backup dancer Kevin Federline from 2004 until 2007.

She met her fitness model spouse Sam in October 2016 on set of her Slumber Party music video.

After the sweet exchange, the couple became Instagram official in January 2017 and were together for more than seven years.

Daily Star has taken a look inside their relationship as reports suggest they’ve ended their romance.

First meeting

Opening up about meeting Britney for the first time, Sam told Men’s Health in July 2018: “I was excited that I [would] get to meet one of the biggest artists of all time.”

“I had butterflies. She said,’‘Hi, I’m Britney,’ and I said, ‘I’m sorry, what’s your name again?’. I tried to be funny. I don’t think anybody got it.”

Fortunately, Britney was charmed by Sam and they started chatting about one of their favourite foods, sushi.

Engagement

In December 2021, the same month that Britney’s conservatorship came to an end, the Oops! I Did It Again hitmaker and Sam announced that they were engaged.

The happy couple announced the news in a sweet Instagram video, which showed the singer showing off a huge diamond ring alongside her future husband.

In the video Sam asks Britney: “Do you like it?” to which she enthusiastically responds: “Yes!”

She captioned the video: “I can’t f***ing believe it!!!!!!”

Lavish lifestyle

Britney and Sam have certainly been living the “fairytale lifestyle” that he described in his social media posts, with the couple sharing a £5.7m home in Los Angeles, California.

The Thousand Oaks residence has been Britney’s home since 2015, and was designed to emulate an Italian-style villa complete with 13,300 square feet of space, five bedrooms, seven and a half bathrooms and 20 sprawling acres of private land.

However in February 2022, Britney shared a video from her current home – hinting a move may be on the cards.

She said: “So this is the view from my room… it’s pretty spectacular! I’ve lived in this house for seven years and I’m in the process of buying a new home… it’s time for a change!”

When they are not at home, the couple have regularly shared snaps from their lavish getaways to locations including Cabo, Cancun, Las Vegas and Hawaii too.

Baby heartbreak

Four months after their engagement news, Britney and Sam share the news that they were expecting their first child together.

They made the announcement on April 11, 2022, with Britney excited to welcome a new addition to their family alongside Sam and her two children she shares with ex-husband Kevin – Sean Preston and Jayden James.

However one month later, Britney and Sam announced that they had lost their “miracle baby” early on in pregnancy, in a joint Instagram post.

Wedding

The couple said “I do” in front of a very small and exclusive guest list in June 2022, which did not include Britney’s mum Lynne Spears, dad Jamie Spears or sister Jamie Lynn Spears.

However, her brother Bryan was said to be the only exception to the star’s “no family” rule at the ceremony.

The news came after weeks of rumours that the couple were going to tie the knot, after Britney shared photos of her meeting fashion designer Donatella Versace, who had been commissioned to make the singer’s wedding gown.

The mother of two also shared a video on her Instagram page of her drinking champagne in a Rolls Royce next to Sam, with fans noticing a huge wedding hint in the process.

Cheating claims

Following claims the pair have separated, TMZ report that Sam confronted Britney over rumours she had cheating on him.

While it remains unclear whether or not there is any validity to the claims, it allegedly resulted in a massive argument between the two.

“It’s only a matter of time before Sam files for divorce,” the source told the publication.

Sam has reportedly already moved out of their shared home.
