Carol Vorderman has revealed the levels of secrecy that goes on behind the scenes of The Masked Singer.
Carol starred on this year’s Christmas special as Reindeer where she ended up in the sing off. Carol, who is no stranger to sharing saucy photos of herself in bikinis and revealing clothes with her thousands of fans, had to cover up her vital assets in the cuddly costume to leave fans guessing who might be hiding underneath the mask.
But she decided to share some candid footage of her time on the show and revealed just what lengths the programme makers go to in order to protect the identity of the celebrity singers hidden behind their masks – from visors and balaclavas at all times when travelling and walking about – to hoodies with the words Don’t Speak To Me emblazoned on them.

Carol shared several behind-the-scenes videos on Instagram after the show aired on ITV on Christmas Day, writing: “Some behind the scenes vids for The Masked Singer.

“Loved it so much! The secrecy is amazing, even wearing the DON’T SPEAK TO ME hoodies and masks and balaclavas in the car you travel in.
“And Reindeer’s head was sooooo big I had to look through the gauze in her mouth, bless her. I’ll miss Reindeer, she was such fun. Thank you thank you ITV… and to be back with my Jungle buddy Joel …. @joeldommett @maskedsingeruk @mothecomedian @ritaora @davinamccall @mewossy @leonalewis”

In the cheeky videos Carol revealed that the production team had to help her in getting out of her costume, which she overheated in during her performance. In the first video where a team of production assistants could be seen in the background, helping Carol out of her festive costume, she wrote: “Well, this is the last time. We’ve had the reveal and the girls are stripping me now, stripping Reindeer! I’ve had so much fun. Happy Christmas everybody!”

The 63-year-old glamourpuss spilled other backstage secrets. In a second clip Carol wearing a balaclava and a hoodie, emblazoned with the words “Don’t speak to me”, to conceal her identity before the big reveal. The TV legend said she enjoyed covering up for the show, as she could step out with “dirty hair and no makeup” without anyone noticing.

And in a final video, the mother-of-two could be seen holding Reindeer’s head while sweetly telling fans: “I’ve got to say goodbye to my lovely Reindeer for now. I hope we meet again! Love Reindeer, I hope you do too.”
As well as wowing crowds with her performance, Carol also managed to leave the judges with their jaws on the floor after sharing a story about her naked treadmill accident.

The former Countdown star said she ‘loved’ being Reindeer on the festive edition of the star-studded ITV show when her identity was finally revealed on Christmas Day, but Chef Ainsley Harriott beat Carol and took home the crown after impressing the celebrity panel with his performance as Partridge.
