Coronation Street viewers expressed divided opinions regarding Monday’s episode (August 28) which showed new emerging skinny dipping scenes, witnessing emotional moments of Paul Foreman and Billy Mayhew as they confronted the advancing stages of Paul’s Motor Neurone Disease in the setting of Weatherfield.
In the previous week, Paul (Peter Ash) displayed a heartbroken demeanour as he accidentally overheard Billy (Daniel Brocklebank) confiding in Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce).
Billy expressed doubts about continuing his relationship with Paul after the incident where Paul had gone to a hotel room with a former partner, who subsequently stole the funds he had collected for his equipment.

Billy implied that he might not have stayed with Paul if he wasn’t dealing with his illness.
While Paul seemed to have accepted the idea of installing a stair lift in their apartment, he casually dismissed his partner’s remarks.
Subsequently, Paul expressed to Billy his desire for them to share quality time, prompting Billy to propose having lunch.
But Paul yearned for a more adventurous experience, leading the duo to venture by the lakeside, where they engaged in light-hearted banter and likening the scene to a cinematic moment.
Amid jokes and contemplations, they fondly referred to it as their “perfect day”.
However, Paul soon confessed that there was a way to enhance the experience.
He playfully proposed the idea of skinny dipping, citing it as something characters often do in movies.
Despite initial hesitance from Billy, Paul employed his most persuasive look and shared that it was a bucket list item for him.
It didn’t take long before the Billy succumbed to Paul’s charm, leading to both of them shedding their clothes and taking the plunge.
The lovebirds were spotted immersed in the water, with Billy tenderly embracing Paul as they savoured the cherished moment.
The scenes evoked strong emotional and divided responses from Corrie enthusiasts, who swiftly flocked online to respond to a behind-the-scenes post presented by the show’s social media team.
The post, which was shared on X (formerly known as Twitter), featured actors Peter and Daniel in their roles, capturing the essence of the storyline while engaging in discussion.
A fan wrote: “Brilliant emotional scene, love these two.”
Another added: “Scene was beautiful, I bawled.”
A third commented: “Loved this and really love these two, amazing actors. I rarely tear up watching a soap but these two do set me off.”
And someone else added: “Aww bless. Made me shed a tear. Such a lovely scene. Well done.”
“It’s a beautiful resting place that Billy on his own should say his goodbyes to Paul. Just an idea.”
