Dakota Johnson required “serious psychological preparation” for her bondage scenes in the 50 Shades franchise.
The actress played Anastasia Steele, the blushing virgin who falls for billionaire business guru Christian Grey and soon agrees to be his submissive in the bedroom.
The franchise features some pretty kinky scenes, including a spanking scene which left Ana in tears.

And though Dakota had a bum double for most of it, she still needed to prepare for the scenes before she could go ahead and act them out.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight about her role in 50 Shades Freed, she explained: “I mean, there is a lot more of my body that’s shown than Jamie [Dornan’s] actually.

“I really had to get ready for it each time and know exactly what we were going to do and how we were going to accomplish shooting the scenes, the more intimate ones.
“Over the course of the three films, it never got easier. It wasn’t like, ‘Oh, this old thing’, you know?”
The actress said she attempted to “negotiate” on certain things, including how much clothing she was wearing, but “knows what she signed up for”.

She admitted: “It’s not like they are forcing me to take off my clothes. I choose to do these jobs.”
Dakota admitted that one of the Red Room scenes proved hardest for her to deal with, telling Marie Clair that being blindfolded was a whole new ballgame.
She told the publication: “The most difficult [scene] by far […] was a sex scene in the third film where I was handcuffed with my arms and legs to the gate. It’s like a fence thing that comes down. And I was blindfolded.
“I didn’t realise that no matter how prepared or rehearsed I was, when your senses are taken away like that, you can’t control the way your nervous system will react.”

To preserve her modesty while filming, Dakota had an invisible thong “superglued” to her bits, while Jamie opted for a penis bag to conceal his own privates.
And bizarrely, Dakota had her pubic hair added digitally using CGI after the filming was done.
Cinematographer Seamus McGarvey revealed back when the movie released: “[Dakota] had kind of a patch that went over her pubic area, and right round her whole body.
“We were in the curious situation, in post-production, of adding [pubic hair]. I wouldn’t say it was one of the highlights of my career, but it certainly was one of the most surreal scenarios,” he told the New York Times.
