EastEnders Reiss future 'sealed' in sinister plot as fans 'work out' heartbreaking twist

EastEnders fans think they have ‘worked out’ a heartbreaking twist for Sonia Jackson, as they suspect newcomer Reiss Colwell is planning a sinister plot against her.

Viewers of the BBC soap were recently left in shock when they discovered that Reiss had a secret wife – just days after fellow resident Jo Cotton’s long-lost wife turned up on Albert Square too.

Following the revelation, fans think that Reiss may have a few more secrets that will be exposed – and that his intentions towards Sonia may take a sinister twist as his storyline unfolds.

Here, Daily Star takes a look at the theories surrounding Reiss’ future on EastEnders.

Sinister plot

Reiss came to Sonia’s aid after he managed to evict her troublesome lodger Jed – but fans think that the two may have a secret connection.

Reiss had suggested that Sonia should get a lodger to help with her money problems, but she was left unimpressed when Jed moved in.

Jed was eventually evicted by Reiss, but he failed to tell Sonia how he had evicted Jed, instead joking: “I could tell you but I’d have to kill you.”

Viewers think that this could point towards a sinister plot against Sonia, which would break her heart as her and Reiss’ romance has continued to flourish since his arrival on the square.

Fans also think they’ve worked out that this sinister clue suggests that the Jed and Reiss may actually know each other – and that they are plotting to steal money from Sonia in a heartbreaking twist.

“I think him and Reiss are family some how and they want Sonia’s money,” suggested one fan.

A second added: “Maybe him and Reiss are after Sonia’s house/money. Perhaps they knew each other prior to all this and Reiss is now scared of the competition.”

“Something about Jed that I don’t like but can’t put my finger on it,” added a third, while a fourth penned: “I’m sure at the very end of last nights episode, I saw Reiss give Jed a look, and I thought then, they’re working together. For what, I’m not sure, but defo think they’re together somehow.”

“I wonder how Reiss knew Edward ‘Jed’ then…. #Eastenders,” asked a fifth.

Meanwhile, other viewers suspect that following the revelation that Reiss has a wife, he may not be related to the Cotton family at all – and that he is hiding his true identity in order to steal money from Sonia.

“Reiss has a wife? I don’t understand. What’s his game with Sonia then? Is he even related to Dot Cotton’s family? I knew he was dodgy,” asked one fan.

“Yep it was obvious from the start that Reiss is shifty. My initial prediction was that he’s going to steal her house. I hope he’s thwarted somehow, not only for Sonia, but Dot (and all of us). I’d love to see that kitchen remain as it is forever as a monument to Dot,” agreed a second.

“Looks like Reiss is having money problems and he looked so awkward when he talked to Alfie about wedding dresses,” suggested a third, while a fourth added: “There’s something weird about Reiss.”

A fifth penned: “Why do I get the feeling Reiss and his band practice chums are gonna diddle Sonia out of home and money à la The Ladykillers?”

“Wouldn’t be surprised if Reiss turns out to be a bad ‘un ripping Sonia off,” another said.”

EastEnders villain

With fans becoming suspicious about Reiss, many are predicting that he could become EastEnders’ next villain – and that his first victim could be Sonia.

When asked by one Twitter user: “Do you think Reiss could develop a dark side in the future,” more than 74% of fans responded yes.

Viewers think he could become a serial killer on the square, with one saying: “You know the old saying about the quiet ones are the worst. Well that’s what I think too.”

“This Reiss character is actually so strange. They need to turn him into a serial killer or something,” commented a second.

A third added: “I find Reiss quite endearing to be honest. It’s nice to have an actual character rather than a generic cut-out the likes of which we have had too many of in recent years. Now I’ve said that watch him turn out to be the next neighbourhood psycho!”

“I agree with others who’ve said that he is a bit creepy,” another wrote.

Although the secret about Reiss’ wife has been revealed, viewers think there could be more secrets to follow, with another fan asking: “Reiss what are you hiding? #EastEnders,”

A second asked: “What’s reiss looking all sus about,” as third said: “Now what dark dastardly secret background will Reiss eventually reveal?”

Meanwhile, other fans are hoping that despite possible secrets, Reiss will not turn out to be the next EastEnders villain, with another begging: “Reiss did show a dark side when ushering Jed away but I want to see the good in Reiss because he’s so sweet. I think him and Sonia could go the distance.”

Secret wife revelation

EastEnders fans recently learnt that Reiss was married, but some think that there may be more to his secret than meets the eye.

Viewers had long suspected that Reiss could potentially have a wife, with one saying: “Yeah I thought Reiss probably had a wife, I bet he’s got kids too.”

However, they reckon they have worked out that his marriage storyline will echo Jane Beale’s entrance onto the square in 2004, with one saying: “I feel like maybe Reiss won’t be dodgy and his wife is in like a hospice…kind of like Jane and her husband when she was first introduced #eastenders,” said one fan.

“I think Reiss’ wife may be terminally ill and she’s given him permission to move on with someone else cause of it. He could have been caring for her too,” agreed a second.

A third added: “So we all thinking the same? A) Reiss’ wife is probably terminally ill. B) Secret kid of Jo and Rocky’s will turn up later on in the year and C) Emma will turn up at Lola’s funeral”

Martin Fowler feud

Fans took to social media in anger recently, after Sonia’s ex Martin Fowler called Reiss a “weirdo.”

After they begged Martin to stop being so mean to Reiss, could this signal a potential feud between the pair in the future?

“Is Martin jealous of Reiss being with Sonia or does he just not like him?” asked one fan, followed by crying emojis.

A second agreed: “Martin calling Reiss a weirdo. I think he’s getting a bit jealous.”

“Shut up Martin, don’t call Reiss a weirdo,” added a third, while a fourth penned: “Shut up Martin, leave Sonia’s Reiss alone.”

Despite the tense interaction, viewers are hoping that a potential feud will not come in the way of Sonia and Reiss’ romance, with many hoping that the couple will have a happy ending together.

“I’m so excited for upcoming Sonia and Reiss stuff. They’re so flipping cute,” said one viewer.

“I like Reiss so far. We haven’t seen enough of him yet to form a proper impression of him. I just hope Sonia doesn’t get her heart broken again. I feel like Sonia could go the distance with Reiss. They are cute together,” added another.
