Holly Willoughby puts £1m deal on hold after alleged ‘kidnap and murder plot’

Holly Willoughby has put on hold a £1million Marks & Spencer fashion deal as she heals from an alleged kidnap and murder plot.

The terrified star has not been seen in the limelight since quitting the ITV show she hosted for 14 years – This Morning – back in October. Holly has fronted collections for high street store M&S since 2018.

Holly would normally have been involved in a Christmas campaign with the high street brand. And she usually promotes several capsule collections per year as well as offer Marks & Spencer shoppers fashions tips on the department store’s website.

As a result she has paused her deal and any further work with the company since a man was arrested and charged with soliciting to commit murder and incitement to commit kidnap – charges he denies. A source told the paper: “What happened has shaken Holly to the absolute core.

“Holly is still absolutely traumatised and her priority is her family right now. She decided to take time away from the limelight for a while and just concentrate on dealing with the situation.

“It has been very sad for her and everyone around her and she is dealing with it in the best way she can. So with that in mind, she just wants time with her family to heal.”

Her seven-figure contract with L’Oreal, of which she is the face of its Garnier Nutrisse hair dye – which runs into 2024 – has also been placed on hold. ITV bosses still aren’t sure if Holly will return in January to host Dancing on Ice.

Stephen Mulhern is expected to step into former ITV presenter Philip Schofield’s shoes either hosting alone or with Holly if she decides to come back. Last month Plumb pleaded not guilty to the charges and remains in custody until his trial next June.
