Home and Away Braxton family now – star 'hates sex scenes', famous wife and huge row

Australian soap Home and Away has introduced viewers to a number of iconic families in the past 35 years, including The Braxtons.

Arriving in Summer Bay in 2010, the family were at the heart of the soap’s biggest storylines – including the death of brother Casey, the loss of Charlie Buckton and a story that saw Darryl become a cage fighter.

But where are the Braxton family now?

As Home and Away celebrates its 35th anniversary today (January 17), Daily Star takes a closer look at where the actors who played the Braxtons are now.

Steve Peacocke played the eldest of the Braxton brothers in Home and Away between 2011 to 2015, becoming involved in huge storylines including the death of love of his life Charlie Buckton and becoming a cage-fighter.

His performance was a hit with fans, landing the actor the Logie Award for Most Popular New Male Talent, Most Popular Actor and a Gold Logie Award for Most Popular Personality on Australian Television.

However after leaving the soap, Steve made it big in Hollywood as he took on a number of roles including Nathan in Me Before You, Stephanos in Hercules and Nic in Whiskey Tango Foxtrot.

He currently plays Ben in Australian programme Five Bedrooms, and most recently appeared as sports reporter Rob Rickards in The Newsreader, which earned him an AACTA Award nomination for Best Guest or Supporting Actor in a Television Drama.

Steven recently made a candid confession when talking about one of the storylines in Five Bedrooms, which saw his character cheat on wife Heather in the drama – that he doesn’t like filming sex scenes.

He admitted during an interview with Now To Love: “I don’t typically enjoy doing any of that stuff.

“As an actor, watching other actors in sex scenes, I think, ‘Crikey, I’m glad that’s not me!’ I avoid them if I can, but if it adds to the story, I think it’s worthwhile.”

Steve is not the only famous star in his family too, as the actor has been married to actress Bridgette Sneddon since 2014.

The couple dated for nearly a decade before tying the knot, and even starred opposite each other in Home and Away between 2014 to 2015, where Bridgette played Sophie Taylor.

Dan Ewing (Heath Braxton)

Dan Ewing played the second of the Braxton Brothers, but long before his soap fame, he was already a huge star.

The actor appeared in Blue Water High, Spirited and Rescue: Special Ops, before landing the role of Black Power Ranger Dillon in the hit series Power Rangers RPM.

However in 2010, he joined Home and Away as Heath Braxton and remained on the soap until 2014, when his character left following the death of on-screen brother Casey.

He later returned for the Home and Away special, An Eye For An Eye, as well as appearing on Dancing With The Stars with professional dance partner Luda Kroiter, before the pair were eliminated in week five.

Since then, Dan has landed roles in films including Beast No More, Occupation, Love and Monsters and most recently, Occupation: Rainfall.

Dan is also a successful theatre actor, and has appeared in productions such as Godspell, Les Miserables and Jesus Christ Superstar.

Away from the limelight, the star was married to Marni Little from 2012, with who he welcomed a son – but the couple announced that they were divorcing in 2016.

However in 2018, Daily Mail reported that Dan was given an apprehended violence order (AVO) after an alleged argument with his ex-wife’s new husband David Robertshaw.

During an appearance on SAS Australia, Dan opened up about his regrets over the argument with David, with Yahoo Australia reporting the actor as saying: “That exchange, verbal exchange, ended up in a complaint, being filed with police.

“That was investigated… The bottom line, Staff, was that it was disrespectful and there was levels before because I let my ego and my emotions, engage.”

They also reported that Dan and David are on good terms with one another.

The actor also began dating actress Kat Risteska in 2016, with the couple later becoming engaged and welcoming a daughter in 2022.

Announcing their engagement on Instagram, Dan shared a sweet snap of Kat’s stunning engagement ring, captioning the post: “All I want for Christmas is…”

Lincoln Younes (Casey Braxton)

Lincoln Younes made up the Braxton brothers trio, where he delighted fans as Casey between 2011 to 2014, before his character tragically died.

Following his departure, he won the Inside Soap Award for Best Daytime Star.

Since then, the actor has appeared in TV series and films such as Down Under, Dead Lucky, Grand Hotel, Doctor Doctor and most recently Last King Of The Cross.

However, he made a candid admission during an interview with Now To Love, when he spoke about the “brutal” acting industry, saying: “I had a constant stream of jobs for a while and then didn’t work for years.

“Then I adjusted and learnt things about myself and then went into theatre, and did that for a year, and then there wasn’t any work, and then out of nowhere, I got an American job.”

He added: “The highs are high, but the lows are incredibly low in what we do.

“You try to make sense of missed opportunities, but I think the most calming realisation I had is that sometimes it just doesn’t make sense.”

In his personal life, Lincoln was in a relationship with the actress Amy Ruffle between 2011 to 2016.

Nic Westaway (Kyle Braxton)

Youngest Braxton brother Kyle was played by singer and actor Nic Westaway between 2012 to 2016.

After appearing in Home and Away spin off, An Eye For An Eye, Nic went on to star in Dance Academy: The Movie, Neurogenesis and most recently, 2022’s We Were Tomorrow.

That’s not all, as he also appeared as the love interest for Samantha Jade’s single Always in 2017.

He also appeared as Prince Alladin at the Tyne Theatre & Opera House in Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK in 2019.

In 2021, Nic also spoke openly about his mental health ahead of taking part in The Push Up Challenge, an event that helps raise awareness of mental health and raises funds for charities and organisations that help people who may be struggling.

The actor explained that while he has never been diagnosed with depression, he has “struggled”, saying: “I’ve never been officially diagnosed but it’s a struggle I’ve had at times in my life.

“But in an optimistic or positive way, I’ve found those times in my life when I’ve had those dark thoughts that I had labelled as a mild or moderate depression, it’s given me an opportunity to find tools to use to improve my life or become stronger as a person.”

In his personal life, the star also previously dated model Shenae Gillespie, but the actor confirmed during an interview in 2015 that the couple had parted ways.

He told Perth Supplement Magazine AAA Weekend: “No we’re not (together). It’s pretty recent, still fresh.”

Suzi Dougherty (Cheryl Braxton)

The Braxton brother’s mother was played by Suzi Dougherty – but she was a huge star long before appearing in the soap.

The star previously appeared in TV series and films such as The Flying Doctors, A Country Practice, Water Rats, Queen of the Damned and Blue Heelers.

IMDB lists her most recent appearance as Mrs Bowen in TV series The Gloaming in 2020.

Away from the limelight, Suzi tends to keep her personal life private and it is not known if the star is single or in a relationship.
