Truck Festival is a true gem – hidden in the heart of Oxfordshire, the weekend-long event boasts big name artists, comedy heroes and activities for everyone.
I’ve heard good things about Truck over the years so I decided to go along and see what all the fuss was about.
In terms of the acts, big name headliners such as The Vaccines, Royal Blood, Alt-J, Two Door Cinema Club and The Wombats were obvious winners and got the crowds hyped throughout the rain.

However, some of the more underrated acts were actually the highlight of my weekend.
Despite the torrential downpour, the Oxford Symphony Orchestra were incredible and performed Clean Bandit’s Rather Be with a few Abba covers thrown in for good measure.

Festival goers were slipping and sliding about in the wet mud as the rain started on Saturday morning, but everywhere I looked there was smiles and laughter – it was clear the weekend weather wasn’t stopping anyone from enjoying the festival.
During the few moments of sunshine, festival goers rushed to enjoy a bite to eat from one of the many food stalls which boasted a wide variety of options, including vegan Chinese cuisine, pancakes, giant Yorkshire puddings and crispy duck rolls.
Over in the comedy area, The Daniel Wakeford Experience had the entire crowd singing about roller coasters and belly dancers before hilariously screaming at the top of their lungs: “I need a girlfriend!”

Royal Blood closed out the weekend with a huge firework display, which I expertly timed with my mates so that we were at the top of the ferris wheel when they went off.
The overall atmosphere was very wholesome and there was truly something for everyone – even the youngsters were kept happily entertained by the colourful art installations and giant crochet flowers dotted about the arena.
However, there was one (and arguably the only) major complaint that was universal across the entire site – the non-flushing toilets became a serious problem as the days went by, both in the arena and in the campsite.

All in all, Truck Festival is a truly amazing experience and I highly recommend it if you get the opportunity.
Family friendly during the daytime and lots of places for party animals to burn off steam during the night, there truly is something for everyone, so don’t miss out on next year’s fun.
