One of Hollywood’s leading exorcists has helped A-listers conceive and purged literal demons from the bodies of rock stars – and that’s just a regular day in Rachel Stavis’ life.
Star of Celebrity Exorcism, some of Rachel’s high-profile clients include Full House actress Jodie Sweetin and basketball pro Metta Sandiford-Artest, but those are just the ones she’s allowed to name. In reality, Rachel provides a “safe space” for the stars who come to her in a crisis.
Speaking exclusively to Daily Star, she explained: “I really can’t name who I’ve worked on. I pride myself on being a safe place for people to come, so unless they out themselves I don’t out them. Let’s just say this, I’ve worked on politicians, I’ve worked on Oscar winners, I’ve worked on rock icons, I’ve worked on wrestlers.

“I used to say usually when people come to me it’s a last resort, but that was in the beginning. Now I have a reputation with people, they come to me with all kinds of things. I’ve helped some celebrities conceive. I worked with celebrities who have addiction issues. I’ve even worked with celebrities who haven’t had a job in a while, celebrities who went through difficult divorces.
“It’s not just about entity and attachment all the time, sometimes it’s about removing trauma. We don’t want to leave trauma in the body – low frequency and trauma is what attracts entities in the first place.”
Entities – which the layman might think of as spirits, or demons – have been a regular feature of Rachel’s life since she was a child. She was born with the ability to see them with her eyes, the same way others see regular people day-to-day.
She revealed: “When I was a kid and I started seeing monsters in the closet, monsters under the bed, my parents would come in and say, ‘There’s nothing there’. But of course for me, that didn’t really just go away. I learned very quickly not to talk about it because it sounds insane.
“I tried to be a normal person for a while, I was a writer,” she said. “I tried to repress that sight until I was basically 30. At that point I had a fender bender and it was one stressor too many for the week and I couldn’t contain that sight anymore. It just blew up. At that point I had to make a decision – either I’ll have to check myself in [to a psych ward] or figure out what this is for. So I started opening things up more.”
For Rachel, it’s easy to tell the difference between a living, breathing human and an otherworldly entity. She said: “They don’t really look human. Even when they try, they’re very bad at it. Tricksters in particular are the ones that visit me the most, they really try to hold human form when they visit – but they’re so bad at it! You’ll get a visitation from a trickster but its face will not be fully formed. Or the eyes and mouth will be in a different location than they should be.”

Creepy, eh? Rachel says one of the biggest misconceptions about her job celebrity clients have is thinking they know their demons intimately – but she often proves them wrong. “I’ve worked on several major rock legends who always thought they had one particular demon. If you open up the books of ‘here are demons’, they’re always like, ‘This is my demon’, and it’s always the same one. But it’s never actually that demon!”
According to Rachel, these rock stars will pick out a demon associated with music, and ask her to remove it. “I say, ‘Okay, let’s take it out’. They always say, ‘If you take it out, will I be able to play as well as I do now?’, because they’re selling out arenas. I have to say, ‘Yes, it’s really not what you think it is’.”
Rachel’s memoir, Sister of Darkness: The Chronicles of a Modern Exorcist, is available to buy now and currently being adapted into a scripted series at FX, starring Emma Roberts.
