Coronation Street star Peter Ash has been hailed “fantastic” and “brilliant” by his Emmerdale actor cousin Will Ash.
The Ash family are taking the world of Soapland by storm and are currently at the centre of storylines in two of the biggest serial dramas in Britain. While Peter plays Paul Foreman in Corrie, Will joined the cast of rival soap Emmerdale last year as Caleb Milligan.
Paul has portrayed the role of Paul since 2018 and earlier this year it was confirmed he’ll be leaving the show after his character is diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND).

Speaking to Digital Spy, Will gushed about his cousin’s performance as Paul in Corrie. He told the publication at the time “I saw a bit of it the other day and he’s brilliant, isn’t he? It’s so good what he’s doing – he’s just fantastic. I saw the episode where he got the wheelchair, with the scene in the pub afterwards, and he was just brilliant.
“I don’t watch that much telly but I was round at my mum’s and we watched it together. He’s doing fantastic. It’s a shame, actually, that he’s going to have to eventually leave. He’s been brilliant in it and he’s a top lad.” Paul has been struggling following his MND diagnosis and his condition has deteriorated, leaving him mostly wheelchair-bound.
He was seen upset on Friday’s episode (November 10) after his partner Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank)was unable to perform in the bedroom with him the night before. Poor Billy has been battling with erectile dysfunction following Paul’s diagnosis. But while viewers might be sympathetic, it seems they can only take too much of the racy details.
But fans have taken to X to declare they are fed up with hearing about their sex life. “We do NOT need to hear about paul and billy’s sex life #Corrie,” blasted one fan. A second added: “Do not really wanna hear about Paul & Billy’s sex life thank you.” One scene showed Paul confiding in David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) at Roy’s Rolls about Billy’s inability to perform

“The vicar needs some erectile dysfunction tablets,” said another fan. “So Paul confides in David Platt about his sex life or lack of it. As if,” added someone else. Elsewhere, Paul told a speech therapist about his recent coughing fits. Bernie Winter (Jane Hazelgrove) had clocked her concern as she insisted they see the MND nurse.
Meanwhile, the Bishop told Billy that he was prepared to lift his suspension and it was time he returned to work. Billy was delighted, but his mood was short-lived when Bernie called from the hospital. The MND nurse broke the news to Paul that he only had 6 to 12 months left to live.
Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday on ITV1 and ITVX at 8pm
