Lorraine says 'I wish she hadn't done that to her face' after Madonna hits back at trolls

Lorraine Kelly voiced her concern over Madonna’s face after the singer hit back at those who mocked her appearance at the Grammy Awards.

The Material Girl hitmaker, 64, appeared on stage to introduce Kim Petras and Sam Smith on Sunday night, but distracted fans with her “unrecognisable” look.

Following the comments about her appearance, the singer hit back at trolls, saying she has been “caught in the glare of ageism and misogyny”.

La correspondent Ross King appeared on Wednesday’s instalment of the ITV programme to discuss Madonna’s response with the Scottish presenter.

Recognising the achievements she has made in her career, Lorraine said: “She is indeed a trailblazer. You can’t take anything away from Madonna.”

She went on to appreciate the support Madonna has given to the LGBT community before it was deemed “fashionable”.

The 63-year-old added: “But but but, with a caveat, I wish that she hadn’t felt the need to do that to her face.

“Having said that, she can do whatever she wants because she’s Madonna.”

Taking to Instagram on Tuesday, Madonna shared a compilation of snaps and videos from The Grammy’s, accompanied by a lengthy caption hitting out at the comments made about her appearance.

She began the post admitting what “an honour” it was to introduce Kim Petras and Sam Smith, before voicing her disappointment at those who ignored the contents of her speech in favour of speaking about her face.

The Queen of Pop fumed: “Instead of focusing on what I said in my speech which was about giving thanks for the fearlessness of artists like Sam and Kim – many people chose to only talk about close-up photos of me taken with a long lens camera by a press photographer that would distort anyone’s face!!”

She added: “Once again I am caught in the glare of ageism and misogyny That permeates the world we live in.”

“A world that refuses to celebrate women past the age of 45 And feels the need to punish her If she continues to be strong willed, hard-working and adventurous.”

The icon went on to say she has been “degraded by the media” since the earliest days of her career but assured: “You-won’t break my soul”.
