Love Island fans are convinced that new host Maya Jama took a subtle swipe at her rapper-ex Stormzy in front of the nation.
Maya met the latest batch of islanders in the first episode of the winter 2023 series on Monday night (January 17) which saw the sexy singletons paired up in their couples for the first time.
But she didn’t shy away from bringing up her own rocky love life when she reminded islanders how difficult it is to find your “perfect match.”

Maya appeared to lament her dating history in her closing speech to the cast after they were coupled up, and it left fans convinced she was talking about her former boyfriends such as Stormzy and NBA star Ben Simmons.
Before she left the villa, Maya said: “But don’t forget, finding your perfect match is never that simple. Trust me, I know.”
She added: “I will see you all soon and have an amazing time. Take care.”
Her candid confession went down well with the cast as it prompted a laugh from stars like Tanya Manhenga who may have understood how she felt.
And fans reckoned she was throwing ‘shade’ at rap superstar Stormzy, so they rushed to Twitter to comment about it during the episode.
One fan tweeted: “Think Maya just had a little sly dig at Stormzy.”
A second said: “Stormzy just turned his tv off after Maya’s last sentence. Source: trust me bro.”
Another agreed: “”trust me i know’ LMAOOO MAYA GOT STORMZY HUFFING AND PUFFING MAN.”
A fourth reckoned Stormzy was likely ‘beating himself up’ after watching Maya Jama on the show.
They added: “I jus KNOW stormzy is kicking himself after seeing maya in that dress.”
Maya and Stormzy were in a relationship between 2015 and 2019 and Stormzy described their break-up as his “biggest mistake” during a recent interview with Louis Theroux.

However, others believed Maya might have been talking about NBA star Ben Simmons, whom she reportedly dated from 2021 until last August.
One viewer wrote: “Maya Jama literally just broke up with Ben Simmons and people are talking about shading stormzy? You people are slow.”
Love Island continues nightly at 9pm on ITV2
