Matthew Perry’s Friends co-stars have taken to social media to pay tribute to the star, who was confirmed to have died at the age of 54.
The star was found in his hot tub by emergency services at his Pacific Palisades home after they responded to a call at 4.07pm.
Perry is said to have drowned and no drugs were discovered at the scene and there is no indication of foul play.

The official Friends account on X, formerly known as Twitter, confirmed the news as it posted: “We are devastated to learn of Matthew Perry’s passing. He was a true gift to us all. Our heart goes out to his family, loved ones, and all of his fans.”
Perry’s Friends co-stars have been paying poignant tributes to the actor as Maggie Wheeler, who played Chandler’s girlfriend Janice in Friends, said the joy Perry brought to “so many” in his “too short lifetime will live on. I feel so very blessed by every creative moment we shared.”
Morgan Fairchild, who played Chandler’s mother Nora Bing, said: “I’m heartbroken about the untimely death of my ‘son’ … The loss of such a brilliant young actor is a shock.”
Paget Brewster, who was Chandler’s girlfriend Kathy on the fourth season of Friends, penned: “He was lovely to me on Friends and every time I saw him in the decades after. Please read his book. It was his legacy to help. He won’t rest in peace though. He’s already too busy making everyone laugh up there.”
Selma Blair, who played Chandler’s colleague in an episode of Friends, said Perry was her “oldest boy friend” in an emotional Instagram tribute.
She added: “All of us loved Matthew Perry, and I did especially. Every day.
“I loved him unconditionally. And he me. And I’m broken. Broken hearted. Sweet dreams Matty. Sweet dreams.”
The other five main Friends stars, Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Matt Le Blanc and David Schwimmer are yet to respond publicly to the news.
