Matthew Perry’s pal noticed something unusual about ‘fatigued’ actor just before death

Matthew Perry’s pickleball partner noticed some unusual details about the Friends star shortly before his tragic death aged just 54.

The actor appeared “fatigued” during their daily games. Similar to tennis, pickleball is popular in the US and Matthew’s regular partner said they played the game for an hour before he returned to his home in LA, where he was found unresponsive after reportedly drowning in his hot tub.

Now Extra TV host Billy Bush revealed more details of the days and hours leading up to the Chandler Bing star’s death, writing on Instagram: “I spoke to the woman he played with this morning and every morning. She is in shock, adored Matt… she said he had been fatigued today and over the past week. A little more than usual. He played for one hour, then went home.”

The actor was said to be in good spirits, however, as he played at the Riviera Country Club close to his home in Los Angeles’ Pacific Palisades region. He sent his assistant on an errand after returning home, but was found unresponsive when they returned two hours later.

Country club members claimed Perry also played the game with a male friend, with The Sun reporting one said: “He was hitting with a guy yesterday who is well-known here. I’ve spoken to him, he’s fairly upset.

“As someone who really watched the show Friends, that was a very cool pop culture moment in history. You won’t find anyone who spoke ill of him here.”

Matthew’s parents arrived at his home shortly after his death and looked distraught, before a medical examiner left with the body in the early hours. According to The Sun, the actor was living alone, but regularly spent time with his assistants and sober companions after a lifelong battle with alcohol and drugs.

Matthew’s parents, Suzanne Morrison and John Bennett Perry, split when he was around a year old, with Suzanne later remarrying to Matthew’s stepfather Keith Morrison. All three were seen attending his property looking dazed.

His grieving family confirmed in a statement to People: “We are heartbroken by the tragic loss of our beloved son and brother. Matthew brought so much joy to the world, both as an actor and a friend.

“You all meant so much to him and we appreciate the tremendous outpouring of love,” the statement concluded.

The star is believed to have drowned in his jacuzzi, with first responders called to the property for a cardiac arrest. No narcotics were found at the scene, though some prescription medications for anxiety, depression and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease were found in his home.

Matthew’s last Instagram post before his death showed him taking a late-night dip in the hot tub with a pair of headphones on, adding the caption: “Oh, so warm water swirling around makes you feel good? I’m Mattman.”
