The former Radio 1 star shared the news on her social media as she updated fans on how she was feeling.

Maya is hoping to recover in time for Love Island which kicks off on Monday, January 16th in South Africa.

This will be the second series of “winter” Love Island and Maya’s first as the new host.

Maya will be taking over from Laura Whitmore, who decided to leave after the summer 2022 series.

In the new promo trailer for the show, Maya can be seen saying: “It’s time to grab love by the horns, I’m ready, are you?”

The stunning TV personality could be seen riding a mechanical pink bull in the new advert.

This comes after it has been revealed that ITV bosses have reportedly upped their security measures this time around.

After being hit with security breaches this year, The Ludus Magnus villa will be protected by high-voltage gates.

The whopping £1.2million pad will also be manned by trained guards surrounding all perimeters.

A source told The Sun there is a phone line connected to the local police station and private armed response.

The insider said: “If any threat is larger than expected, the heavy cavalry would be on their way in seconds”.

All production crew coming in and out will also have armed escorts due to a surge of organised crime in South Africa which targets wealthy visitors.

Love Island returns this January on ITV2 and ITVX
