Diets aren’t the solution.

Speaking exclusively to Daily Star, Ethan explained: “I don’t believe diets are the solution, because diets are a short term thing.

“We need to start to think about all this in terms of, ‘What changes do I need to make that will then change for the rest of my life? What would allow me to exist in a way that is more amenable to what I want?’

“That’s what has helped me the most – changing my perspective a little bit.”

The Randy Hickey star added: “I was more than willing to suffer for three months and be lightheaded and fatigued if that would cure me – but I don’t think there is a cure.

“I’m talking about for me, because I also think we’re all unique individuals and it’s not going to be exactly the same for everybody. But the way that I look at it is – I’m changing my behaviour, and that is going to produce the most long term effects.”

Opening up on his weight loss journey, Ethan continued: “For many years, probably more than a decade, I considered that food was the problem. It took a long time to find out there’s really no finite, fixed solution to me. I am a work in progress from here on out.

“Diets are a tool. If you wanted to build a house and you needed a hammer, the hammer’s not going to do all the work for you. There’s still a lot of work you have to do and you might need other tools.

“So that was the thing that changed for me – it isn’t food that’s the problem, it’s my relationship with food.”
