Netflix’s The Crown shares first look at Diana ahead of tragic death in final series

Fans of the hit Netflix series The Crown have eagerly awaited for new episodes, but they won’t have long to wait.

The first part of the highly anticipated sixth and final series of the hit drama will drop on the 16 November, with the second part coming on the 14 December. However, the streaming giant has today shared a first look of the upcoming set of episodes with new preview snaps.

The series is set to be the most controversial yet. At the end of series five, viewers were left on a cliff edge when Mohamed Al-Fayed (played by Salim Daw) offered his support to a newly divorced Diana, Princess Of Wales (played by Elizabeth Debicki). She was invited onto a holiday with his son Dodi (played by Khalid Abdalla).

Fans can now catch a glimpse of the holiday as Diana can be seen on Holiday as she sailed from The South of France to Sardinia on the world-famous Cujo yacht. The world’s media watched on as she got to know the Egyptian film director but in the famous paparazzi snaps, she looked out to sea reflected on the end of her marriage to then-Prince Charles (played by Dominic West.)

The new pictures show how the makers of the hit series have captured that moment in August of 1997 perfectly as the character is seen wearing the iconic pink one-piece swimsuit. Following their holiday the couple of course travelled to Paris where they stayed at his father’s hotel, The Ritz.

Following dinner at the establishment, the pair were pursued by foreign photographers on motorcycles through the streets of Paris which culminated in the tragic car crash in the Pont de l’Alma tunnel.

In another snap, the character can be seen looking downcast in a remake of the outfit she wore that night as she was surrounded by the flash of the cameras. Elsewhere, we see a look of a teenage Prince William (played by Rufus Kampa) and a growing Harry (played by Fflyn Edwards) with their father on their 1997 trip to Balmoral.

Prince Charles was dressed in his iconic kilt, jumper and shirt combo whilst the young princes as they hiked across the highlands. In other snaps we also see their mother enjoying the company of her children in a fuchsia ensemble as she enjoyed her holiday with her sons.

The Peter Morgan created series is set to depict the moments leading up to the death of Diana, as well as the intense aftermath of her tragic passing as the country was in mourning. We will also see Her Late Majesty The Queen’s relationship with the new Prime Minister Tony Blair.

Netflix announced the series will be split into two halves as the second part will air later in the year just before Christmas. It is speculated viewers will see scenes leading up to Her Late Majesty’s Golden Jubilee, the passing of the Queen Mother, Charles’ wedding to Camilla and the blossoming relationship between Prince William and a young Kate Middleton at St Andrew’s University.
