News host caught shouting weird word in mic blunder during tragic shooting report

US news reporter Giselle Hood has been left red-faced after accidentally making an inappropriate comment live on air.

Giselle took to TikTok yesterday with a video showing her saying “slay” after thinking her microphone was switched off.

Across the video, she wrote: “pov [point of view] sound forgets to cut your mic after your live shot so you end up saying “slay” on live television.”

In the video, Giselle signed off from her news report and hand over to the news anchors who said: “Thank Giselle. Three people including a child were shot a killed during a domestic violence incident in Florida.

“Police say the suspect in the domestic violence incident…” Giselle can be heard saying “slay” into her microphone.

After posting the video the journalist wrote: “Literally the worst timing.

“Also I want to make it abundantly clear I was talking about my live shot and not the shooting.”

Fans were left in hysterics after watching the video and flocked to the comments section.

One person said: “That was so much worse than I anticipated.”

Another person wrote: “Too funny not to post omg.”

While a third commented: “I don’t think there could be a worse news story to hear “slaaaaaayyy” in the background of.”

And a fourth said: “Such bad timing.”

Another person penned: “CRYING!!! This was not your fault sis. Audio has ONE JOBBBB.”

Later on, Giselle posted a video explaining how these tech blunders happen.

She explained that she was “super proud” of her live shot

She explained that “while WVAE is a commercial news station it is also owned by the University of Alabama which means that it is heavily dependent on interns.”

She also said that the “sound guy for that night happened to be training so he was brand new” and she thought it was a “great learning lesson” for him.

She explained that she was “super proud” of her live shot and so she said “slay” and that is why it came on the television.
