A former Nickelodeon star-turned-Playboy model has opened up about the “strict” rules she had to follow while working for the children’s channel to keep up her “wholesome image”.
Madisyn Shipman gained fame starring as Kenzie Bell in Nickelodeon’s Game Shakers, which aired from 2015 to 2019. But she’s recently made a racy career change — taking up a new profession as an adult content creator.
The 20-year-old announced last month she’d teamed up with Playboy to make raunchy content for its new digital platform. She’s now revealed she made the decision after feeling “repressed” by rules she had to follow while at Nickelodeon.

Madisyn claims she was put under pressure by the channel’s executives to maintain a family-friendly image. She told the Daily Mail: “Whenever you’re on a child network, you have an image to uphold. It doesn’t matter if you’re 25, it doesn’t matter if you’re 12, you have an image to uphold.”
The former child star revealed it wasn’t just on set she was expected to keep up her wholesome image, but also at all times in her “day-to-day” life. Explaining the rules she allegedly had to follow, she added: “Whenever you go out, you can’t be wearing a crop top. You can’t have your boobs out.”
Madisyn claimed she also wasn’t allowed to wear heels, which came as a big blow because she’s short and “loved” wearing them. She said the strict clothing rules made it difficult for her to “navigate” through puberty.
“You are going through all of these crazy changes with your hormones [during] puberty, and you’re being told you’ve got to hide your boobs and hide your body and hide this part of you that you are still trying to figure out. It’s hard to navigate,” she explained. Despite her dislike for the clothing rules, Madisyn said she’s still “very, very grateful” for her time on the network and revealed she’s still “super close” with the rest of the cast, as well as producer Dan Schneider.
When her time on the Nickelodeon show came to an end, Madisyn started working a minimum-wage job at a gym, but she “absolutely it hated”. So she made the decision to start working with Playboy and while it came as a shock to many of her fans, Madisyn previously told the Daily Star it’s all been part of reclaiming her sexuality.
“I think it definitely came as a shock to some people but my motivation for joining was to reclaim my power and my sexuality,” she said. And she’s had no regrets since, adding: “At the end of the day, I can’t live my life for other people. I have to live it for myself. This was something I knew I wanted to fully commit to and I’m so glad I did!”
Nickelodeon has been approached for comment.
