Phillip Schofield has addressed Jeremy Clarkson’s apology to Meghan Markle.
The 62-year-old former Top Gear presenter came under fire last year for publishing a rant about the Duchess of Sussex, 41, in which he said he dreamed of her being paraded through British towns and publicly shamed.
His comments were widely condemned, with the piece becoming the Independent Press Standards Organisation’s most complained-about article.

Following the backlash, the original publisher The Sun removed the column, while Amazon Prime has reportedly cut ties with the broadcaster.
On Monday (Janaury 16), Clarkson published on his Instagram the apology he sent to Meghan and her husband Prince Harry calling his language “disgraceful” and saying he was “mortified.”.
Clarkson said in the statement: “I knew what had happened straight away. I’d been thinking of a scene in Games Of Thrones, but I’d forgotten to mention this. So it looked like I was actually calling for revolting violence to rain down on Meghan’s head.
“I was very angry with myself because in all those controversial days on Top Gear, when I was accused of all sorts of things, it was very rarely sexism.”
Clarkson’s apology was discussed on This Morning on Tuesday (January 17) with Phillip saying: “He also goes on to talk about the fact and I like Jeremy, he’s a very clever broadcaster, he’s a great journalist – but he then says on Top Gear, ‘We never made jokes about women parking’.
“But it’s almost as though [he’s saying], ‘But we could have done if we wanted to, but we didn’t do that so give us points for that.'”
In response to the apology, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Harry and Meghan, said it did not address Clarkson’s “long-standing pattern of writing articles that spread hate rhetoric, dangerous conspiracy theories and misogyny”.
This Morning airs weekdays on ITV1 and ITVX at 10am
