Simon Cowell pulled out of ITV’s Walk The Line to rally behind Lucy Spraggan after snub

Simon Cowell stepped down as a judge on his TV talent contest Walk The Line in response to how ITV treated X Factor contestant Lucy Spraggan.

According to Lucy’s memoir, Process, she claimed Simon pulled out of the show just six weeks before the new musical competition aired in 2021.

The programme then went down in the ratings was cancelled shortly after one series.

Lucy claimed to The Sun Simon decided not to take part in the programme because he was devastated she had not been chosen to go on I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! in the same year.

Simon had wanted Lucy to appear on the reality show to hopefully revive her career.

Last week, Lucy caused shockwaves when she revealed that she had left X Factor prematurely in 2012 after she was raped while competing on the show.

Discussing Simon’s decision to step down from Walk The Line she said: “ITV did not want to play ball.

“This was the very last opportunity I would give ITV to cut me a f***ing break.”

She said Simon was “furious” and shocked at ITV.

She later said that Simon pulled out of Walk The Line days later.

Daily Star has contacted ITV for comment.

Before choosing the final cast, I’m A Celeb does interview a number of celebs before picking the final stars to join the show.

Lucy also went on to claim that she was made to feel like a “corporate problem” after the sex attack.

However, she revealed Simon contacted her after he broke his back — and told her he realised what it meant to feel powerless.

Following Lucy’s revelation, ITV has expressed its “deepest compassion” for Lucy while X Factor production company Fremantle apologised.

Last week spoke about the release of her new book on Instagram.

She wrote: “In my book, I talk about a lot of things, one of which being my experience on the X Factor.

“How my mind was blown by the audience’s response, what it was like to take part, and much more.

“In this chapter, I wrote about the day me and my friends watched my first appearance on the TV and the joy/shock/excitement that ran through all of us sitting there watching the screen.

“I have spoken about my want to build upon TV shows like the X-factor, not to tear them down,” she added.
