Strictly star Les Dennis’ 15-year age gap marriage to Amanda Holden and TV star affair

Strictly Come Dancing star Les Dennis was once married to Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda Holden.

The Heart FM radio presenter was just 22 years old when she got hitched to the then 40-year-old television host.

They were married for eight years but their marriage wasn’t as blissful as it seemed.

The doomed relationship ended when Amanda had an affair with Line of Duty actor Neil Morrissey.

She previously told Daily Mail: “I brought it on myself, I appreciate that, but nothing will ever be as bad again. It was a very dark time. It got to the point where I felt I could hardly breathe.

“Les proved to be my saviour. Ironically. So the person I’d hurt the most in the world was the one who was there for me.”

She added to Good Housekeeping: “I want to change the general perception of him, as he was very caring and very loving and very worried about me because I lost so much weight. He used to cook for me and look after me and babysit the dogs.”

Amanda is now married to Chris Hughes and they have two children and Les tied the knot with Claire Nicholson in 2009.

As Les competes for the Strictly 2023 glitterball, Daily Star have decided to take a look at Amanda and Les’s marriage.

Les and Amanda got married in 1995 after meeting whilst shooting The Sound of Music in 1993.

The radio presenter looked stunning on her first wedding day as she donned a stunning white gown, a pair of elegant silk gloves, a delicate pouch bag and a twee veil.

She looked like a princess as she wore her hair in a up do with a tiara.

Even though their marriage eventually hit the rocks, Amanda has always spoken very fondly of her ex husband.

In the past she has called him her “saviour” and has shown regret for the way that she treated him.

Amanda met Neil on the set of BBC’s Happy Birthday Shakespeare and told the Daily Mail that the media scrutiny was the “worst time of her life.”

She said: “I brought it on myself, I appreciate that, but nothing will ever be as bad again. It was a very dark time. It got to the point where I felt I could hardly breathe.”

In 2002, Les and Amanda announced that they were getting divorced, just two weeks after her scandalous affair was announced.

Amanda had had a five week fling with Line of Duty actor Neil Morrissey.

The two met on the set of BBC’s Happy Birthday Shakespeare and started the affair.

Speaking candidly about it in her autobiography, No Holding Back – My Story, she said: “I knew in my heart that my marriage was on the rocks, but the guilt was unbearable and I hated myself for being so deceitful.

“I’d lie awake at night, feeling how wrong this was, and wanting to stop it. I absolutely hated myself.”

However it seems that Les is now over the betrayal as he has remarried and has previously joked about it.

He spoke about it on a podcast with Christopher Biggins’ as he talked about his time as a star in pantomimes alongside the late American actor Mickey Rooney after his divorce.

He said: “Mickey would get very angry, because of course, Frank Sinatra ran off with Ava Gardner (Mickey’s wife).

“It would’ve been like me having to listen to Bob The Builder every night.”

Theo would be eleven years old now, last year the couple marked the 10th anniversary of his tragic death by sharing an image of her late son’s footprints.

She wrote: “#Theo… our gorgeous little boy. You would have been 10 years old today… not a day goes by without thinking of you.”
