Strictly’s Layton Williams exits BBC reality show as he shares ‘pride’ in taking part

Strictly Come Dancing star Layton Williams has confirmed he will not be appearing in the second series of BBC’s groundbreaking queer dating show.

The West End performer narrated I Kissed A Boy, which aired this year on the BBC. It threw a group of gay men into a luxury home in Italy, with them having to kiss before they even spoke to each other.

The show was hosted by pop star Dannii Minogue, and it was confirmed she would be back for the second series. However Layton has confirmed he won’t be narrating, as there is another big change to the new series.

That’s because it will this time focus on lesbians, with an all-female line-up. And while fans may be sad to see Layton exit, his news might mean the new show will be on screens sooner than we expected.

He told The Sun: “We are now wrapped on I Kissed A Girl. I will not be voicing that one because I’m not a lesbian, but I just want to say I’m so proud to have been part of this beautiful show.”

The new series of the show will kick off with 10 single ladies all looking for love in the sun. There have been “more twists and turns than ever” promised, after a successful first series.

I Kissed A Boy kicked off this summer, with 10 single guys locking lips before they’d even said hello. The show was groundbreaking with its focus on same-sex relationships and the cast’s discussion of subjects often ignored on more mainstream series.

There were a number of tender moments when the cast discussed pressures from within the gay community, as well as from outsiders, as well as conversations about self love. Of course, there was still plenty of drama too, with partner swapping and fall-outs.

Sadly, the only remaining couple – Ollie King and Dan Harry – recently confirmed they had split up. However they reunited alongside their co-stars for this month’s Pink News Awards, where the show won Screen Moment Of The Year.
