But things took an awkward moment when Tom was quizzed by the hosts about his upcoming role in the blockbuster flick, Wonka.

“Tom here is in Wonka the movie,” Tim said, before adding: “Unbelievable.”

“Who are you playing,” he then asked.

Looking sheepish, Tom replied: “Erm, I’m not allowed to say.”

Quizzing him further, Tim quipped: “Are you Charlie?”

“Oh yeah,” Tom joked, adding: “Charlie 30 years on.”

Tom then went on: “I’m not allowed to say. Timothée Chalamet is Willy Wonka, I am allowed to say that.

“It’s an amazing thing,” he added.

But the hosts were not done trying to get the gossip, as they quizzed him further: “So who are you playing again Tom?”

“Stop,” Tom quipped. “I’m awful, I’m a gossip. If you want to meet me down at Wetherspoons, I’ll tell you.”

He went on: “People before I go on anything they say, you can’t say anything about this movie. So yeah it’s a hush-hush vibe.

“I think I can say it’s not the traditional story,” he then quipped, before looking rather red-faced.

Tom admitted how he felt he ‘needed a lawyer’

“Oh god, I feel like I should have a lawyer here,” he said.

“I don’t know what’s been said and what hasn’t and I’ve been pulled in quite a few times about being a blabber mouth.”

Fellow guest Sarah then chimed in and said: “Yeah you went out of contract five minutes ago.”

She joked: “Like you’re getting sued.”

“That would be awful,” Tom replied.

The movie, entitled Wonka, is due to be released this year and serves a prequel to the 1964 novel Charlie and The Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl.

It will follow the titular character’s early days as a budding and eccentric chocolatier.
