Taylor Swift ‘struggles to breathe’ during Brazil gig after fan’s tragic death

Taylor Swift appeared to be struggling to breathe during her latest gig in the heart of Brazil.

On Friday night (November 17) the music icon performed for hours for another sell out stadium in sweltering hot temperatures. The Blank Space hitmaker, 33, delivered another stellar performance at Estadio Olímpico Nilton Santos stadium in Rio de Janeiro as fans sang along to her latest hits.

But new footage obtained by TMZ appears to show the blonde bombshell gasping for air during her incredible performance. The video – which was posted to the social media platform X – formerly known as Twitter – shows the star struggling to mask her condition as she performed on stage.

The concerning clip was captured on the same night one of her fans Ana Clara Benevides died, just moments before the singer took to the stage. It didn’t take long before her fans flooded to the comments to share their concerns online.

One user penned: “OMG… this breaks my heart on so many levels. She’s so professional but watching her like this, my best wishes go to her.” Another pointed out: “Taylor was struggling to breathe as well!”

A third echoed: “She is only 33 and in incredible physical shape. That she was struggling that much is really scary.” Due to the extreme temperatures, the Love Story singer was forced to postpone her Saturday night performance in Rio de Janeiro.

Taking to Instagram, she wrote: “I’m writing this from my dressing room in the stadium. The decision has been made to postpone tonight’s show due to the extreme temperatures in Rio.

“The safety and well-being of my fans, fellow performers, and crew has to and always will come first.” The news comes after her fan passed away on Friday night, just hours after complaining they didn’t feel well.

It is understood the 23-year-old sought help at the stadium before she was taken to hospital moments before Taylor took to the stage with her opening number. Unfortunately, the devoted fan died in hospital just one hour later.

The cause of her death is yet to be determined. After hearing about the news of her fan’s death, Taylor took to Instagram to pass on her condolences to her family online.

The pop star said she was “devastated” over the death of her fan and that her heart was “shattered”. Taylor added: “She was so incredibly beautiful and far too young. I can’t believe I’m writing these words, but it is with a shattered heart that I say we lost a fan earlier tonight before my show.

“I can’t even tell you how devastated I am by this. I want to say now I feel this loss deeply and my broken heart goes out to her family and friends.” The singer said she would be unable to speak about the incident at the gig because she felt “overwhelmed by grief”.

As of writing this article, Taylor is still scheduled to perform in Rio this evening (November 19), but those plans are still open to change.
