Contestant Dan was the last player standing amongst his team in an episode of the hit ITV gameshow. However, despite him being on his own, he had taken a gamble that had paid off, having bagged a cool £80,000 in the first round of the show.
However, chaser Jenny Ryan was hot on his heels throughout the show, which continued into the final chase at the end of the programme. Ryan was on course to catch Dan with his money, after answering 16 of 17 questions right when she was given a question that had thrown her and caused her to pass.

With just four seconds to go on her clock, host Bradley Walsh asked Dan the question. He turned to the contestant and said: “Israel’s main airport is named after which Prime Minister?”
However, despite the pressure, Dan was able to give his answer of David Ben-Gurion. Bradley, stunned at the answer he gave, exclaimed in joy: “Unbelievable!” as he breathed a sigh of relief.
Having given the right answer, Dan was able to push Jenny back one step, meaning she had to get two questions right to catch him. As the final seconds of the game played out, Ryan was able to clench the step back, but it was not enough to catch Dan, and one step behind him, he was announced as the winner.
Clearly taken aback at winning the money, he was left speechless. Bradley himself could not believe history had been made, as he explained to Dan the record he had broken: “The highest amount any single player has ever won.”
Dan was in shock upon hearing the news, asking: “Seriously?!” to which Bradley responded: “Oh, seriously.” Jenny herself praised him for the historic win, saying his knowledge was “very good”.
Uploading the clip to Twitter, Jenny once again hailed Dan as a “very good” player. Some of Jenny’s fans and Chase viewers also congratulated him for the amazing win to come out with a cool £80k.
One viewer responded to Jenny’s post, commending Dan for his ability to think of his feet, writing: “What an answer to pull out of the bag at that moment!” Whilst a second user praised the contestant even further: “Dan was a fantastic player.”
The Chase airs every weekday at 5pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
