The Chase’s Paul Sinha rushes to support Mark Labbett after ‘breakdown’ on set

The Chase star Paul Sinha rushed to support his co-star Mark Labbett when he had a “breakdown” on recent episode of the ITV quiz show.

Chaser Paul, known as The Sinnerman on the show, was quick to help when Mark, known as The Beast, admitted he’d struggled in the studio. Taking to X, formerly Twitter, he wrote: “I had a breakdown prior to the final chase, was utterly demoralised by yet another star team :(.”

He explained that he congratulated the team on their victory but it was “edited out” by ITV, which could have made it look like he wasn’t being gracious in defeat. He added: “I still applauded and congratulated the team but it was edited out :(.”

Paul told Mark: “It’s easily lost we’re not robots, we’re human beings trying our best. Whatever you see on screen is a snapshot of us at an unspecified moment sometime in the last 18 months.” He added: “We could have been under stress for any number of reasons, much of [which] may be long forgotten.”

A recent episode saw Mark look gutted as a team bagged £20k in the final chase. The contestants, on the other hand, were jumping up with joy.

Concerned fans joined the conversation, with one writing: “It’s the most frustrated I have seen you! On the bright side my wife and I were laughing at how grumpy you looked but in a nice way if that’s possible. All part of the twists and turns that great show provides.”

Another commented: “It always amazes me how you get the top teams and other chasers get the ones that fall apart straight away, I think there is something going on, they know who the contestants are and how good they are, anyway you are the greatest and the editing is not acceptable.”

A third said: “We’re human at the end of the day, and you absolutely did your best. It was one of the best shows for a long time, and you were part of our enjoyment in watching it. You’ll always be one of the best and never forget it”

A fourth penned: “Out of curiosity, how long ago was it filmed ?? You could tell halfway through with the tone in your voice you knew that you had been beaten.” Another cheekily added: “Sorry to hear that, though was clear you weren’t yourself. Hope you’re back to your brilliant bullying best soon. You’ll always be the chaser we fear the most (well, maybe second to @anne_hegerty lol).”

Mark (perhaps jokingly) said he’d “purge” his co-stars to get more money

Mark cheekily said he’d “purge” some of his fellow Chasers to get more money. He told Daily Star: “If I could get away with it I’d purge half of them because the fewer Chasers there are, the more money I get.”
