After welcoming the professional dancer to the studio, Roman continued: “People say to me when are you going to do Strictly?’ and I said I’ll do it, if your my partner.”

Last year, Johannes was paired with comedian Ellie Taylor but in 2021, he was in a same-sex partnership with The Great British Bake Off star John Whaite.

The pair, who were fan-favourites with viewers at home, narrowly missed out on the coveted top spot after losing to EastEnders star Rose Ayling Ellis and Giovanni Pernice.

Recently, John confessed to falling in love with Johannes while being in a partnership for the show.

He revealed he and his partner of 15 years, Paul Atkins, “spent time apart” after the series ended and after he realised he was in love with Johannes.

Speaking about his experience in the dancing competition, John said: “I fell in love with him [Johannes].

“I can’t speak for him – because I’m not allowed to, legally – but it felt like there was love there.

“We had such similar stories growing up; the homophobia, the bullying, coming out, coming to terms with our sexuality, as any queer kid would.”

John then stated: “I still love Johannes. Of course I do.”

The One Show airs weeknights on BBC One at 7pm
