But although Trisha gave a heartfelt description of the fond memories she shared with the American icon, viewers at home were clearly distracted by the star’s appearance.
Heading over to Twitter, one viewer wrote: “Sorry but she looks nothing like Trisha.”
Another chimed: “OMG! What’s happened to Trisha? I recognise the voice, but the face?!”
While a third asked: “That’s Trisha?”
Speaking fondly of Jerry and his infamous self titled show, host Charlie asked Trisha if some viewers would be shocked by the antics that took place on the American programme.
Trisha agreed and said: “It was a bygone era.
“I think he pioneered that if you like and it was a bit of a stage show, people went on for all sort of mad reasons.
She added: “He was so sweet to me, he was so sweet to all of his staff, be you somebody who was an intern or a runner which they call it or if you were an exec producer, he didn’t care.
“And he did pay it back, he did a lot of work for various communities as well!”
The news of Jerry’s passing comes after his family confirmed that he died peacefully on Thursday at his home in the Chicago area.
Lifelong friend Jene Galvin, said in a statement: “Jerry’s ability to connect with people was at the heart of his success in everything he tried whether that was politics, broadcasting or just joking with people on the street who wanted a photo or a word.
“He’s irreplaceable and his loss hurts immensely, but memories of his intellect, heart and humour will live on.”
