Tupac’s alleged killer ‘caught out’ during interview with DJ years before arrest

DJ Vlad has opened up about an interview with Duane “Keefe D” Davis that he feels “caught him out” years ago.

Keefe D was arrested last week with one count of open murder after the rapper Tupac Shakur was shot in a fatal drive-by shooting 27 years ago. Clark County Chief Deputy District Attorney Marc DiGiacomo alleged Davis was the “on-ground, on-site commander” and “ordered the death” of one of the biggest names in hip hop at the time.

DJ Vlad real name Vladimir Lyubovny, appeared on Piers Morgan’s Talk show Uncensored and explained that he felt that he had “caught” Davis years ago with his interview technique. He claimed that he used Keefe D’s self-published 2019 memoir Compton Street Legend as a “blueprint” when he felt that Davis was dodging his questions.

“Well, I think that he believed that he had a level of immunity when he did the proffer agreement. I also I think at the time he was saying that he had cancer, so maybe he didn’t think he had much time to live.

“So he was just kind of letting it loose at that point. But, you know, it was it was a little bit crazy that he actually sat down and we did everything and when I asked him about it, sometimes he would try to dodge certain questions, but ultimately, I use the book as a blueprint.

“So whenever a question wouldn’t get answered, I said, Well, the book said, xy and z, and then at that point, he kind of went along with what was written in the book.” The DJ also claimed that he refused to co operate with the police because it went against his morals.

He explained: “For me, just in terms of business wise and my ethics and so forth. I just feel there’s something wrong. So when Las Vegas police reached out to me multiple times, I just never responded.”

DJ Vlad continued: “I think what they did ultimately want was the raw footage. That was an email that they sent after a couple of phone calls went unanswered. Ultimately, if you know the style of our footage, everything that we film gets released.

“Maybe they thought there was a gotcha on there in the footage that was unreleased, which I’m not aware of it since everything did get released. But ultimately, we don’t cooperate with the police and you know, we’ve had situations where police have tried to get footage from us. We’ve had our lawyer step in and actually block it.”

Keefe D has already publicly acknowledged he was inside the car when Tupac was shot in both his book and documentary appearances. In Death Row Chronicles, he was filmed saying: “I was a Compton kingpin, drug dealer, I’m the only one alive who can really tell you the story about the Tupac killing.

“People have been pursuing me for 20 years, I’m coming out now because I have cancer. And I have nothing else to lose. All I care about now is the truth.”

According to Davis’ on-camera confession they “bust a U-turn” and pulled up alongside Tupac’s vehicle which was being driven by Knight at traffic lights. But he refused to say who pulled the trigger. “Going to keep it for the code of the streets,” said Keefe D. “It just came from the backseat bro.”
