Tupac’s gold ring sells at auction for staggering value – as conspiracy theories abound

Tupac Shakur’s iconic gold ring has sold for a staggering figure at auction.

The rapper, who was just 25 when he was fatally shot and killed in September 1996, wore his jewellery encrusted with diamonds and rubies.

Now his ring has smashed records and sold for an absolutely eye-watering amount, while conspiracy theories around the star’s death still abound.

The chunky ring is engraved with “Pac & Dada 1996”, referencing his girlfriend Kidada Jones, and is adorned with a huge gold crown adorned with gems.

At auction, Tupac’s ring sold for $1million (£772,000) on Tuesday (July 25), after being initially valued at around $200,000 to $300,000.

Sotheby’s estimate ended up being nowhere near, and the ring – sold by his godmother Yaasmyn Fula – sold for a whopping figure.

Tupac is said to have spent months designing the ring after his prison stint, which is now the most valuable hip-hop memorabilia ever sold.

He most notably wore it for the MTV Video Music Awards just weeks before his death in 1996 – his last ever public appearance.

Fula said of the ring: “Tupac thought of himself and his creativity as a tool of expressing injustice and love. That message has been carried on with a lot of artists to this day that give him acknowledgement and say how much he inspired them.”

Conspiracy theories are still floating around of the rapper’s death, including that the rap star is actually still alive.

In 2021, a TikTok video of an uncanny lookalike went viral online, sparking rumours that the All Eyez On Me hitmaker is still alive and well.
