Britain’s Got Talent beauty Amanda Holden was all smiles after hosting the Royal Variety Performance with best pal Alan Carr – and getting a mixed response from viewers
Amanda Holden has brushed off backlash over her Royal Variety Performance stint.
The Britain’s Got Talent judge left many viewers unimpressed when she and best mate Alan Carr hosted the show in front of His Majesty King Charles III on Sunday night (December 15). She previously admitted she feared falling out of her outfit for the event.
But she was all smiles on Monday (December 16) as she showed off her latest outfit in the Heart Radio offices. Amanda, 53, revealed she bought herself a pair of fancy shoes but wouldn’t say where it’s from or how much it cost her, because they were “expensive”.
“Good morning, it is Monday,” she said in a clip. “It is nine sleeps ’till Christmas! This skirt from Karen Millen. How lovely is this? And it doesn’t really crease up. The top is Alex Perry but it’s old. But look at these shoes.”
She then hiked up her skirt to give fans a look at the gorgeous silver stilettos before adding: “Minnie Mouse would wear these at Christmas.” She then shared that she had bought herself the shoes for Christmas and wouldn’t divulge how much they set her back.
Before blowing a kiss to the camera, Amanda cheekily added: “I won’t tell you where they’re from because they’re expensive and they were a Christmas present to myself.”
It comes after Amanda and Alan hosted the Royal Variety Performance – taking over from Bradley Walsh – and got slapped with complaints from viewers rather early. Just minutes into the show, one viewer raged: “Well, Alan Carr and Amanda Holden are absolutely dreadful. This opening is so awkward.”
Another said: “We have hit rock bottom I see @ITV with the #RoyalVarietyPerformance Carr and Holden??? Just not funny. Why are they presenting.”
However, others loved their hosting gig. One wrote: “Have to admit, I was wrong! Alan Carr, and also @AmandaHolden, were excellent presenters of tonight’s #RoyalVarietyPerformance show.
“Also, the show itself was just magnificent.” Another wrote: “Amanda and Alan were brilliant! #RoyalVarietyPerformance”.
Alan started off with a dig at Amanda’s sexy outfits, joking: “You look fabulous, just on the right side of an Ofcom complaint.” He added: “I feel a great sense of comfort and security sharing a stage with you, well it’s a high profile event and if Just Stop Oil come at the stage, I can use you as my human shield.”
Amanda quipped: “Well, good luck to them because I will end up being their first victim who ends up less orange.”
