Amanda Holden takes cheeky four-word swipe at NTAs as she skips 2024 ceremony

Amanda Holden fired a cheeky dig at the National Television Awards after missing the ceremony.

The biggest stars on British TV gathered at London’s O2 Arena on Wednesday night (September 11). The likes of Holly Willoughby, Dermot O’Leary and Cat Deeley saw an emotional Kate Garraway accept the Authored Documentary Award for Derek’s Story.

But Amanda wasn’t in the audience and it seems she doesn’t regret it as she told her Heart FM show she was having “a much nicer evening” at home. She said she didn’t have the energy to go, saying “it’s a schlep, it’s down at the O2, it’s just so difficult to get to.”

The TV star had been to the NTAs more than once but it’s not the first time she has skipped the event. In 2018, for example, she couldn’t go as she was filming a “slightly controversial” top secret new TV series for Sky late into the evening.

Instead of this year’s NTAs, Amanda said, she had spent the evening with her daughter Lexi, who is on her way off to university soon. Amanda recently shared a tribute to her lookalike daughter on social media.

On Instagram she wrote “All the grades and first choice uni, what a bloody relief.” Lexi was also given a cake that read: “OMG I did it!”.

Poor Lexi was struck down with a potentially-deadly case of E coli right in the middle of her A-levels. So it’s fair to say she deserved to celebrate getting the results she wanted.

Amanda has revealed the teen will be doing her first catwalk show soon – she’ll be the first model to walk the runway for designers Tran Hun. Amanda said Lexi will also be opening the show at London Fashion Week.

Amanda said Lexi is “super nervous” about the walk and will need to learn how to walk in heels in 24 hours. She shares daughters Lexi, 18, and Hollie, 12, with husband Chris Hughes.
