Atomic Kitten favourite begged BBC bosses to compete on Strictly for ’20 years’

One former Atomic Kitten member has been desperate for a stint on Strictly Come Dancing.

The beloved girl group reached number one in the UK back in 2001 with their single Whole Again. Unfortunately, the noughties pop group disbanded in 2004 despite making the headlines as one of the UK’s biggest bands.

But that hasn’t slowed Natasha Hamilton down. Last year the star launched her solo career and released her first single. But it appears as though the Liverpudlian beauty is ready to swap out her microphone for a hunky ballroom dancer.

In an exclusive interview with Daily Star, the mum-of-five confessed she has been begging BBC bosses to get her on the show for “20 years”. The 42-year-old songstress, who performed for Manchester’s Pride weekend, admitted that she has always been a big fan of the show.

She told us: “Strictly would be amazing, I just feel like it would be a physical challenge. I’d like to do something where I felt really challenged with what I was doing so Strictly would definitely be amazing.

“But I’ve been saying that for about 20 years and I still haven’t heard from them [BBC bosses].” The auburn beauty went on to reveal one show that she will never go on, despite tuning in every year.

Natasha admitted that one programme she will never say yes to is I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! The musician went on to share some of her biggest fears that have put her off saying yes, despite being offered a spot on the show by ITV bosses.

She explained: “See this is the thing, I am actually, really a big wimp. I don’t like heights, I’m not a strong swimmer, I’m absolutely terrified of anything with more than two legs – ie non-human.

“Actually I do like dogs, I’m not a big fan of cats but I would be that girl that everyone picks on like, ‘She’s s****ing herself, let’s put her in’. No, that’s not for me. I was asked a long time ago and I did say no.”

It comes after the hitmaker launched her solo career and even debuted her first single at the Manchester Pride Festival. Speaking about her performance on the Main Village Stage at Manchester Pride, the songstress gushed: “I did Manchester Pride years ago, like a long time ago, but it just hits different when you get to perform your own music.

“These are stories of my life, and I’m not just writing generic songs. My music has been about what I’ve been through and my experiences, so I’m so glad that everyone loves them.”

She went on to reveal that her former bandmate Jenny was watching on from the crowd. Natasha added: “Jenny was in the pit today literally sobbing, I couldn’t even look at her at one point. She was so proud.”

Fans will have to stay tuned to see what the musician will get up to next.
