ITV Benidorm fans went wild this week as the cast of the iconic sitcom reunited – leading some to conclude a new series must be in the works.
Coronation Street actor Tony Maudsley, best known for his role as hairdresser Kenneth Du Beke on Derren Litten’s comedy series, was out and about in Blackpool this weekend when he ran into some of his former co-stars. Dame Sherrie Hewson was snapped posing with the star – leading some to guess she might be reprising her role as Joyce Temple-Savage in the series.
Sherrie donned a fur coat for the occasion and was seen with a Bodycare bag for life over one arm, and a Costa Coffee cup clutched in her free hand. Tony donned a grey puffer jacket and beamed at the camera as fans went wild.

In his caption, the Corrie star explained: “Look who I bumped into in Blackpool yesterday! Only Dame Sherrie Hewson with her Costa Coffee and her bag for life!! A much needed mini Benidorm reunion was had. And for the first time ever Kenneth & Joyce didn’t have a nasty word to say to each other!!”
Taking to the comments section, one fan gushed: “Amazing. What I would give for just one more episode of Benidorm!” Another echoed: “When are we getting a new episode though?”
A third social media user begged: “Aww, please let there be another series!” And someone else posted: “Oh how fabulous, did you get to spend much time together? Much love!”
Sherrie has been through a lot since the end of the series, with her brother Brett Hutchinson sadly diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2019 – a year after Benidorm was axed for good. He was diagnosed with a glioblastoma, and scans showed a tumour the size of a golf ball.
Sherrie admitted as he underwent two surgeries, chemotherapy and radiotherapy: “You never think it’s going to happen to you. You never think it’s going to be part of your family and, when it is, you don’t actually believe it.

“We’re such a family unit and we all just kept each other very tight. But then you just go home on your own and cry… And then you go, ‘come on, let’s start again’ – and we did that every day.”
Sadly Brett died in April 2020 after being given 18 months to live. She revealed on talkRADIO: “I’ll always believe that Covid had something to do with his [death], they call it pneumonia but I don’t believe that. Controversially, I believe that that’s what it was called but no one, you can’t prove things, the sadness and the pain was too big to carry on and create a fuss.”
